Job Description:

This full-time position will serve as the key leader responsible for furthering the College of Design, Construction and Planning's mission and goals through the design, development and execution of a strategic communications plan to inform, educate and garner support on behalf of the college. This position will direct the long-range strategic planning, operations and administrative activities of the college's communications and marketing functions.

The position will direct strategy, development and publication of communications initiatives and structures communications campaigns to achieve long-term and short-term organizational goals.

The position analyzes the effectiveness of and establishes future direction for functional policies and programs, and manages the web developer and public relations specialist positions. This position is located in the Dean's Office of the College of Design, Construction and Planning and reports directly to the Senior Director of Advancement.

Job Responsibilities:

Direct the college's marketing, communications, public relations, graphic design and special events. Establish the direction, goals, implementation strategy and policies of these areas.

Define communication strategies for organizational initiatives and oversees media relations in order to ensure consistency of messages and materials. Manages information and resources to meet immediate and long-range goals. Plans coordinates, directs research and helps determine both technical and business goals in consultation with management.

Supervise web developer, and public relations specialist positions.

Direct strategy, development and publication of communications and marketing initiatives. Structure communications and marketing campaigns to achieve long-term and short-term organizational goals.

This may include coordinating a program to provide information data, and timely reports to the public, press, governmental agencies, and other institutions of higher education and/or the writing, design and publication of university and department catalogues, bulletins, programs, and related materials to ensure consistency of style and presentation. Direct all the college's electronic communications initiatives, including the college website, electronic publications and social media.

The individual in the position is responsible for assisting in the implementation of a broad range of fundraising and alumni relations activities for the college, focused primarily on soliciting gifts of $100,000 or more. Reporting daily to the Dean of the College of Nursing and Interim Assistant Vice President of Development, UF Health, the incumbent will serve as the chief fundraiser for the college. The incumbent is responsible for developing and executing the college's fundraising program to fulfill the financial needs as identified by the Dean and in alignment with the strategic initiatives of UF Advancement (UFA). The Senior Director will serve as a strategic partner with the college and UFA, ensuring conformity with central fundraising efforts and promoting a culture of philanthropy by broadening constituents' understanding of the value of giving. THE GOLD STANDARD CULTURE At UF Advancement we are committed to "The Gold Standard Culture" and live it through: Our Vision: A Transformational Experience with Integrity Our Mission: To be a catalyst for advancing the university through private support Our Values: * Service - To help our colleagues reach their goals * Excellence - Striving to reach The Gold Standard * Team - Together everyone achieves more Duties include: * Responsible for the overall management of the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of mid-level to major gift prospects, and corporate and foundation prospects, with focus on gifts at the $100,000 level and above. * Manage annual giving and special gift mass marketing, targeted marketing, and pinpoint marketing programs to increase dollars, donor participation, and average gifts. * Build a portfolio of fundraising prospects and strategically manage relationships through face-to-face visits to bring solicitations to closure. * Serve as an advisor to the Dean and faculty on fundraising programs. * Provide individual faculty members guidance in editing and reviewing proposals. * This position requires significant travel by automobile; maintaining an acceptable driving record that meets insurance requirements and an active Florida driver license must be maintained in order to meet this function. * Develop support for the program by effectively involving stakeholders, such as volunteers, staff, and members of the Dean's Campaign Council, in efforts supporting the fundraising program. * Support the Dean's Campaign Council by serving as an advisor on matters of philanthropy, identifying and recruiting potential Council members, and engaging existing members in meaningful discussion about college priorities and fundraising initiatives. * Create a structured process for the identification, recruitment, evaluation, recognition, and replacement of volunteers to strengthen fundraising effectiveness. * Coordinate special events for donors, alumni and friends; which includes fall alumni reunion, Dean's Campaign Council meeting, VIP and donor lunches and dinners, campus visits and tours with the dean, and meetings and initiatives that promote the engagement of constituents. * Understand and articulate the unique contributions of faculty in education, research, and service. * Coordinate stewardship reports and activities for assigned prospects with appropriate members of the administration and faculty. * Develop and implement a comprehensive communications plan to inform constituents and identified markets about the mission, vision, and values of the college, its funding priorities, and gift opportunities in collaboration with the college, UF Health, and UFA communications teams as appropriate. * Develop and present proposals, and acknowledge and recognize gifts in ways that are meaningful to donors and appropriate to the mission, vision, and values of the college and UFA. * Build and maintain effective relationships with college administration and faculty through regular, consistent, and relevant communication. * Effectively lead the unit's advancement office by ensuring best practices in office systems, practices, files, and record keeping. * Provide leadership and counsel on matters relating to fundraising and accountability. * Establish goals in alignment with unit objectives, developing metrics and a strategic plan. * Foster productive and collaborative professional relationships with Advancement colleagues through the University, demonstrating a commitment to the One UF philosophy. * Ensure effective use of strategic tools and resources such as contact reports, prospect management, research, analysis, and the Advance database. Expected Salary: Compensation is competitive and commensurate with education and experience Minimum Requirements: Master's degree in appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience in Development or a related field; or a bachelor's degree in appropriate areas of specialization and eight years of experience in Development or a related field.
