The Associate Director (AD), CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls) Procurement, will be responsible for supporting Sarepta's Technical Operations function. This is a newly created position as part of Sarepta's growing Global Procurement & Strategic Sourcing organization.

The AD is a proven business strategy influencer & collaborator by advising Sarepta Technical Operations teams on supply market dynamics and leading practices which maximize value, minimize risk, and ensure quality & cost effectiveness. She/he works effectively with ambiguity to anticipate future global business requirements in complex and/or multiple business unit stakeholder categories. She/he develops strategies to meet future demands and to create a competitive supply advantage.

The AD will be managing more than $500M in spend annually, across the functions of Manufacturing, Process Development, Supply Chain, and Quality. The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in contract negotiations with a focus on supply (CMO) agreements. It is necessary that this individual has the drive to not only oversee their category but also contribute to the evolution of a world-class procurement organization at Sarepta. A proven track record of leadership and high-quality supplier performance and relationship management experience are musts for this individual.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Drive stakeholder engagement by developing and systematically managing stakeholder relationships to find the optimum balance between meeting company needs and delivering total value.

  • Develop and update annual category plans with stakeholders including detailed analysis of past and future spending, existing relationships and external trends; create and manage multi-year category roadmaps and pipelines of sourcing initiative projects.

  • Implement strategic sourcing initiatives utilizing a standard framework and departmental tools, including:

  • Partnering with stakeholders to build robust scopes of work.

  • Developing sourcing strategies for individual initiatives.

  • Implementing RFx activities utilizing advanced tools and techniques.

  • Preparing and implementing advanced negotiation strategies.

  • Partnering with stakeholders and Legal to negotiate and finalize agreements.

  • Lead supplier management; leverage a standard framework to classify suppliers and implement SRM programs.

  • Oversee risk management by evaluating and monitoring the risk profile of the supply base, identify mitigation targets, and implement risk improvement initiatives.

  • Manage the portfolio of sourcing initiatives and deliver cost reductions against challenging current and multi-year saving targets.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Skills Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree (MBA, MS) preferred, and Professional Procurement Certification (CPSM, MCIPS, etc.) desired.

  • Strong understanding and experience of biologics and gene therapy manufacturing.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a large or medium-sized professional procurement organization with at least 5 years of category management experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing categories including direct materials, contract manufacturing, capital services and equipment, manufacturing and facilities support services, and quality services, and at least 5 years of experience managing and developing talent/high performing teams.

  • Advanced skills in the following key competencies/skills: communications, project management, relationship management, influencing, negotiation, financial acumen (COGS), analytical, presentation, aptitude for technology, results-focus, professionalism, and success in a matrixed environment.

  • A proven track record of increasing savings delivery to world-class levels in multiple environments and a deep desire to be a key part of building a world-class Procurement function.

  • Ability to work in a highly metric-driven environment, delivering against challenging performance targets, and continually selling the value of the Procurement function.

  • Ability and desire to be a hands-on leader who self-delivers initiatives and programs as required.

  • Ability to influence senior leadership and deliver world-class results in a collaborative manner without direct authority, working with stakeholders at all levels, globally and cross-functionally.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications; Word, Excel, Outlook and FUNCTIONAL systems.

Major Duties and Responsibilities * Lead one indication in late phase oncology development * With minimal direction from group head, direct statistical support and provide scientific leadership for responsible project. Accountable for statistical aspects of clinical development plans, studies and submissions activities (when applicable), including quality, relevance to external stakeholders (e.g. regulatory authorities, medical journals), and scientific validity * Mentor people working on the project. Ensure project team compliance with SOPs and departmental standards. * Plan and track project activities, timelines, and resource use. Provide justification for planned resource needs. Seek to optimize resource utilization thru efficient and well-managed resource allocation and across projects or areas. Effectively utilize external groups, e.g. CROs or data monitoring committees (DMC). Capacity to respond to unscheduled increase in project workload. * Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior staff. * Ensure productive collaborations with other functions in the aligned project team and with other statistics project leaders and in communicating with senior leadership. * Represents statistics in regulatory meetings * Represent statistics to participate (and lead if applicable) in scientific or technology working groups or cross function initiatives; Contribute to operation process optimization and provide inputs to statistics standards.
