Job Description

Kite, a Gilead Company, is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of novel cancer immunotherapy products designed to harness the power of a patient's own immune system to selectively target and kill cancer cells. Our core technology involves the genetic engineering of T cells, or white blood cells, to express either chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) or T cell receptors (TCRs) for the treatment of advanced solid and hematological malignancies. We are on a rapid growth trajectory and have a highly energized and accomplished team.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as an Associate Director of Capital Projects.

This group within the company has a leadership responsibility in all aspects of the infrastructure deployment. These include phases of design, Engineering, construction, commissioning and validation. The group has primary responsibilities to develop strategies and methodologies to deliver on the infrastructure plans in a timely and cost effective manner, ensuring that end-user requirements are appropriately specified and designed into the plans.

In this role, you will support and lead large capital projects and the development of a capital execution process with stage gate approval steps along with processes to manage the life cycle of project documentation and drawings management.

RESPONBIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):

  • Create and execute on a roadmap that optimizes business processes within function for simplicity, adds systems for efficiency and standardizes work functions for consistency.

  • Bring discipline in key areas like Supplier/partner selection and management, Project Management, Project controls, Knowledge management, Capital planning

  • Lead global capital projects from conceptual design through handover as needed.

  • Plans, designs and estimates time and cost, and oversees construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, systems and components.

  • Oversees development and application of engineering standards and procedures, and provides advice on issues within the engineering field.

  • Lead corporate engineering projects and engage with external engineering and design partners as necessary to deliver assets on-time and on-budget.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • BS degree in engineering or related field.

  • 10 years' experience in construction and global capital planning, LRP development or CAPEX project leadership in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.

  • Project Management Professional certification, Six Sigma or other OE-related certification is preferred.

  • Strong financial acumen required

  • Demonstrated ability to build teams and organizations and drive to achieve corporate milestones.

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential.

  • Advanced degree such as an MBA would be an advantage

  • High energy level and a positive outlook coupled with the requisite "can do" attitude and a willingness to do what it takes to achieve personal and organizational goals and overcome obstacles.

  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership in areas of responsibility
