As the Associate Director, Business Planning Analysis (BPA), Market Access, you will support the US Market Access and Patient Services organization by providing financial and analytical support for key business initiatives and financial performance management. You will partner with Market Access / Patient Services to drive value with efficient patient services initiatives.

Your key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Liaise with all partners to proactively handle changes in expense plans. Consolidate and provide insightful expense risks and opportunities and recommend action plans in order to achieve targets. Actively lead allocation of spend to brands.

  • Design and implement systems for financial tracking, ensuring accurate advanced warning for financial results.

  • Support Patient Services Brand teams by providing strong mentorship and financial expertise. Draw on standard methodologies to embody a high-performance, cross-functional culture.

  • Assist with the development of a Patient Services strategy that demonstrates technology and innovation while minimizing costs and improving patient starts and patient happiness.

  • Provide cost/benefit analysis for any new or ongoing patient services activities as well as providing insights on fixed and variable (volume dependent) costs.

  • Interact with US Pharma leadership and their teams to provide analysis, presentations and recommendations as needed. Lead and/or contribute to departmental or ad-hoc initiatives, as needed

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Finance, MBA preferred

  • 7+ years finance experience, preferably in Pharmaceuticals.

  • Proven capability to liaise with business partners to better understand business complexity and offer insights

  • Ability to innovate to provide solutions for unmet internal customer needs

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including ability to communicate financial information to non-finance groups

  • Ability to build positive relationships, work collaboratively across functions, and resolve conflicts

Desirable requirements:

  • BPA experience is preferred

  • Knowledge of SAP BW, BPC, Qlik a plus

  • Understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and external factors impacting the market

The pharmaceutical pricing and market access environment, however, is under increasing pressure which is causing reductions in product uptake as well increases in rebated price concessions. Novartis has operated at the forefront of the managed care industry and is taking further steps to address both the near-term managed care issues as well as the longer-term sustainability of the US pricing and access model. Key actions to address the near term issues include: a.) improving account engagement models; b.) increasing sophistication and customization of contracting and market access strategies; c.) enhancing sales pull-through capabilities; and, d.) transforming the patient support programs. Novartis also aspires to engage and help shape the external environment in a positive way. The steps we are taking include education, lobbying, policy-related work and new ideas for pricing and access models aimed at making the environment more favorable and stable for the longer term. The Associate Director, Market Access Business Planning will be responsible for partnering with the Directors of Business Planning to conduct secondary research, develop and enable the tactical execution of objectives across the Market Access Leadership Team and Business partners. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to: * Strategic partner to the Directors of Market Access Business Planning in their effort to coordinate and align strategic actions and priorities across the multiple functions and franchises supported by Market Access * Identify and lead the effort to refine and establish processes to ensure seamless execution of MA business operations * Support the Managed Markets field operations teams o Partners with the Managed Markets field operations team to ensure they are informed of and incorporating key business priorities, objectives and strategy into field strategy, training and execution models * Ensure effective deployment and tracking of various business critical initiatives in support of departmental annual objectives. Owner of Regional Account Team functional dashboards and KPIs * Strategic Responsibilities: be viewed as a strategic partner to the business by delivering value through insight generation, building internal capabilities and effective project management * Ensure budget excellence through development of annual budget proposals, quarterly progress reviews and monthly execution of purchase orders & invoice receiving What you'll bring to the role: * Education: Bachelor's Degree is required, preferably in Business or Marketing; MBA is preferred. * Travel as required Required Experience: * 3+ years' experience in the pharmaceutical and/or health care industry * Strong written and oral communications to shape and articulate a clear strategy/story * Strong senior stakeholder management and strategic project management skills * Excellent PowerPoint and Excel skills Desirable Experience: * Previous experience presenting to senior leadership (i.e. building story boards) highly desired * Top tier management consulting experience * Experience in market access, marketing or sales experience * Demonstrated success leading across functional teams, strong execution and results * Experience working with national payers * Ability to analyze and interpret amounts of complex market and financial data SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES * In-depth knowledge and understanding of managed markets challenges and opportunities * Ability to understand policy, pricing and contracting environment * Broad strategic thinking skills * Project management abilities for solution development * Ability to collect, analyze and interpret customer/segment trends * Proven leadership ability with demonstrated results through influence management * Strong collaborator with an ability to work cross-functionally to achieve results * Creative ability to appropriately represent and convey value messages You'll receive: Competitive salary, annual bonus, long term incentive for select levels, health insurance, paid vacation/holidays, potential flexible working arrangements, subsidized dining facilities, employee recognition scheme.
