Position Summary
The Associate Director, Brand Marketing is responsible for managing the University's marketing programs and campaigns designed to support strategic brand initiatives, including increasing the visibility of the UCLA master brand to key audiences and geographies. The Associate Director, Brand Marketing, is responsible for guiding marketing strategies across all media platforms, directing small team, and serving as key brand marketing lead contact for external and internal partners.
In addition to guiding brand marketing strategy, the leader will influence strategies through UCLA's primary communication vehicles. The position also plays a key role in working with external third-party creative, media, and digital agencies to strengthen UCLA's brand strategy. The role will also work to identify and collaborate with external brand partners on highly visible initiatives. As a direct report to the Executive Director of Integrated Marketing, this leader will work closely with other unit leaders to develop process and communication efforts for cross-functional platforms, participating in the department's leadership meetings and is expected to contribute to the overall success of UCLA Strategic Communications.

Qualifications
10+ years Experience in marketing and/or advertising, extensive experience working with cross-functional teams. (Required) Experience in developing and leading brand marketing campaigns with proven success. (Required) Experience in managing external creative/marketing/ad agencies. (Required) Solid professional judgment and superior strategic thinking, planning and program design and implementation skills. (Required)Excellent communication and presentation skills; excellent writing abilities. (Required)Knowledge of brand marketing, strategic planning, and project, budget and staff management. (Required)Ability to successfully manage and prioritize multiple ongoing tasks and responsibilities of varying degrees of complexity and meet established deadlines. (Required)Ability to function as lead of the marketing team for the UCLA Brand, as well as the Account Lead for the agency portion serving various campus partners. (Required)Ability to work effectively with senior leadership. (Required)Leadership abilities necessary to motivate direct reports and staff members who report to other managers in Strategic Communications and the University in order to accomplish mutually agreed upon goals. (Required)Supervisory skills to manage staff, including delegation and prioritization of work, training and evaluation, identifying workload needs and evaluating staff to assign tasks as appropriate. (Required)Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build cooperative, effective relationships with volunteers, administrators and staff. (Required)Ability to interact with, and provide smooth interface among, constituencies with individual priorities. (Required)Demonstrated ability to keep abreast of industry trends/technologies and contribute frequent suggestions. Ability to learn software applications and systems. (Required)Demonstrated strong understanding and experience with social media tools and strategies which have delivered proven results. (Required)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Required) Master's Degree Master's degree in applicable field. (Preferred)
