This role will harness the power of large secondary data to drive and deliver data-driven robust commercial insights that inform critical business questions arising from projects of varying complexity and scope in market access and payer strategy globally. S/he will frame business problems, design analytic solutions, and deliver insights that influence business strategy and planning.
This role requires a unique combination of skills as s/he will need to be able to gain the trust of business partners, have an innovative mindset to think through novel ways to help to make better decisions, and execute on the idea by gathering the necessary data and building the necessary analytical models. Specifically, this role will use management consulting skills, business knowledge, and data science skills and tools to analyze and address issues in order to drive alignment on solutions for business results.
This role will partner with dynamic team of subject-matter experts that comes from diverse backgrounds and experiences - market access and pricing, health economics and outcomes research (HEOR), among others. As a core member of the cross functional project teams, s/he will collaborate to turn data into meaningful insights. S/he will also leverage the depth and breadth of subject matter expertise across the Global Commercial Analytics and other groups at Merck to ensure the delivery of robust insights and recommendations to the business.
Education Minimum Requirement:
5+ years of experience in business/marketing analytics or decision sciences in the application to strategic decision-making
3+ years of experience in business consulting (healthcare, pharmaceutical, management, strategy) with strong problem-solving skills
Pharmaceutical industry experience, including experience with pharmaceutical industry/heath care data sources such as claims data, patient level transaction data, EMR, etc.
Strong analytic, problem-solving and quantitative skills; demonstrated ability to quickly identify analytics needs, build effective solution options, derive insights and make strategic business recommendations
Comfortable with ambiguity, and able to act decisively in tight timelines
Strong oral and written communication, including demonstrated ability to synthesize complex analysis into clear and succinct insights and presentation skills
Ability to work effectively independently and proactively; Ability to build strong cross-functional partnerships; Highly collaborative
Ability to manage simultaneously multiple projects and business priorities involving a variety of internal and external partners and cross-functional stakeholders
Masters or MBA preferred
Proficiency in data science tools and advanced analytics techniques (e.g., R/Python, Alteryx, machining learning), and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) also a plus
In-depth understanding of the current pharmaceutical / heath care data sources such as claims data, patient level transaction data, EMR, etc
Familiarity with analyses related to value determination, demonstration, market access and pricing
Experience required in managing large, complex projects with multi-functional team members
