Overview

Purpose Statement/Position Summary: Provides leadership to the Ambulatory Care Centers (ACC) in the community, facilitating growth and development of the services in alignment with the organization's strategic plan.

The Associate Director ensures ambulatory standards of practice meet all regulatory requirements and organizational policies and procedures, while concurrently supporting the mission, values, quality, service and financial goals and objectives of the Children's Hospital Los Angeles Enterprise. This position will provide oversight to the ACC's administrators/managers, direct and streamline the daily operations, will lead/participate in the management and negotiations of contracts, leases, working with facilities and real estate departments at CHLA, and collaborating where necessary with the functional leaders of the Hospital and Medical Group.

The Associate Director is accountable for collaborating in the design, implementation, evaluation and improvement of the ambulatory health delivery systems within the community-based clinic setting, deploying methods and strategies to maintain and improve the compliance of ambulatory care service delivery, clinical quality, clinical processes/systems, performance, patient satisfaction / safety, practice standards and the effectiveness of patient care with regulatory and organizational / institutional requirements and / or standards.

Partnering with various divisions and departments throughout Children's Hospital Los Angeles and Children's Hospital Los Angeles Medical Group leadership, this position will develop and execute strategy to grow market share, expand patient care access, and strengthen CHLA's brand in the surrounding communities.

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in a healthcare service environment, physician practice management company, or healthcare management service organization required.

1.Healthcare expertise and billing and collection experience.

2.Demonstrated verbal, written, and interpersonal skills

3.Personnel management and business planning experience.

4.Understanding of insurance billing and collection requirements required.

5.Proficiency in using PC-based spreadsheet and word processing applications required.

Titles and Number of Employees Supervised: Ambulatory Administrators, Clinic Supervisors Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

Office based. Must work constantly with administrators, physicians, office manager, and employees. Perform critical work under deadlines.

Close and general vision required to read computer screen. General hearing and speech for telephone conversations. Hand and finger dexterity.

Turning or twisting (in chair) to reach files and supplies. Good eye-hand coordination to operate office equipment. Kneeling and bending.

Equipment/Machines Used: Computer and printers, MS Excel for spreadsheets, Telephone & Fax systems, File systems, MS Word for correspondence, Typewriter, Copy Machine.

Education/Licensure/Certification:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.

Graduate degree in healthcare administration or business administration preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

1.Knowledge of the principles and practices of health planning and management sufficient to manage, direct and coordinate the operation of a major health care division.

2.Knowledge of health care administration and clinic philosophy and policies and operating procedures. Knowledge of fiscal management systems and techniques, human resource management practices including supervision and staff development.

3.Knowledge of governmental regulations and reimbursement requirements, computer systems and applications.

4.Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, problem-solving, decision- making.

5.Skill in developing and maintaining effective relationships with staff, board, physicians, and patients by providing an open, collaborative management approach, and a commitment to teamwork.

6.Demonstrated verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Evidence of a significant ability to relate effectively to physicians and a strong interest in supporting physician practices and practice values.

7.Skill in organizing work to achieve divisional goals and objectives.

8.Ability to collaborate and manage change in financial, operational and business development areas.

9.Ability to analyze and interpret complex data, research and prepare comprehensive reports, and monitor quality controls standards.

Pay Scale Information

USD $116,688.00 - USD $210,163.00

CHLA values the contribution each Team Member brings to our organization. Final determination of a successful candidate's starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry.

The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
