Associate Director, Admissions (Marketing/Communications)

Reporting to the Dean of Undergraduate Admission, the Associate Director plays a leadership role in the development, implementation and monitoring of recruitment strategies designed to attract and enroll an undergraduate class of an appropriate size and mix, as defined by university-wide enrollment goals and the university strategic plan. Oversees the entire Communications function of the Office of Undergraduate Admission. Supervises admission staff, counsels students regarding admission to DePaul, serves on the Admission Committee and the Undergraduate Admission Management Team, participates in on-campus events and manages a recruitment territory.
Responsibilities & Duties
Oversees the entire Communications function of the Office of Undergraduate Admission and develops, manages, and implements a comprehensive, multi-channel, segmented recruitment plan to include direct mail, email, social media, web, phone, text, etc.
Leverages the functionality in Slate for outreach, reporting and analysis of all communications efforts.
Updates all print publications and coordinates the student search process (name buys) for generating new prospective students.
Serves as a liaison to and works closely with University Marketing and Recruitment Systems and Technology, in addition to other university partners (orientation, financial aid, housing, etc) as it relates to outreach to prospective and admitted students.
Serves on the Admission Committee, reviewing all marginal applicants and making decisions consistent with university policies and priorities, and as a member of the Undergraduate Admission Management Team, serving as a leader among our staff and creating policies consistent with office goals and professional standards.
Recruits selects, trains, manages, and evaluates staff members.
Meets with individual staff members on a regular basis, approving vacation hours, overseeing programs and main responsibilities and assists in their overall professional development.
Supervises up to four Assistant Directors.
Coordinates, facilitates, and participates in on- and off-campus recruitment activities--managing a recruitment territory, implementing outreach efforts to external audiences, counseling prospective students and their families, managing on-campus events, conducting presentations on DePaul and the college search process and collaborating with faculty and staff involved in recruitment functions.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
5+ years of experience in Admission with demonstrated management skills.
3+ years of experience in a marketing/communications role with an understanding of print, social media, and CRM systems.
Experience giving presentations to a variety of audiences.
Experience with Slate.
Recruits selects, trains, manages, and evaluates staff members.
Meets with individual staff members on a regular basis, approving vacation hours, overseeing programs and main responsibilities and assist in their overall professional development.
Supervises four Assistant Directors and two student interns.
Certifications & Licenses
Other Skills & Abilities Reqd
Knowledge of Microsoft office suite.
Knowledge of student database management systems.
Experience utilizing Slate preferred.
Ability to manage several projects simultaneously while meeting aggressive deadlines.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong counseling and group presentation skills.
Must be a creative and energetic person committed to working in a team environment.
Knowledge of higher education, academic programs and admission practices.
