Job Title: Associate Director, Accounting

Department: Corporate Accounting

Reports to: Corporate Controller, US

Work Location: Bethesda, Maryland

Position Overview

The Associate Director, Accounting will be a part of DAI's corporate accounting team. S/he will be an independent, hands-on, and self-directed individual responsible for multiple aspects of the corporate accounting function that reports directly to DAI's Corporate Controller, US. S/he manage a team of 3 accountants and will work closely with other members of the senior management team to drive DAI's priorities and objectives.

The Associate Director, Accounting will have a particular focus on the monthly close process, and the timely generation of accurate financial statements and related reports. S/he will manage DAI's intercompany accounting and provide DAI's subsidiaries with accounting and financial management support. S/he will identify process optimization and automation opportunities and implement changes that improve the corporate accounting function. S/he will support the Corporate Controller with accounting research and analysis, external audits, expense and internal control reviews, automation and transformation initiatives, and other special projects.

This is a full-time, permanent position.

Responsibilities

Month Close and Consolidation

  • Manage the timely closing of the monthly, and year-end books and records for DAI.

  • This includes recording or approving journal entries, reconciling balances and ensuring accuracy by reviewing financial statements, investigating account variations, and verifying account balances.

  • Responsible for all aspects of the intercompany accounting.

  • Working with other departments, business units and subsidiaries when accounting information or skills are needed to support ongoing efforts.

Accounting and Audit Support

  • Assist in researching applicable accounting standards to ensure internal and external compliance in recording and reporting transactions.

  • Assist with external year-end audits including preparation of necessary work papers and disclosures.

Optimization and Automation

  • Review Corporate Accounting processes and tools and identify issues and gaps. Implement changes to improve or automate processes.

  • Support the upcoming DAI transition to SAP.

Additional responsibilities as deemed necessary.

Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade P8: Minimum of 9 years of relevant professional experience and a college degree. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

  • Must be a CPA

  • At least 5 years combined experience leading all aspects of an accounting close and working at a public accounting firm.

  • Well-versed in US GAAP accounting and experienced in researching, developing, and implementing accounting policies and procedures.

  • Must be hands-on, self-directed with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks/competing deadlines simultaneously.

  • Must be proficient in Excel

  • Must be comfortable with and embrace working at a very detailed level (for example, booking journal entries and reconciling accounts) as well as thinking strategically about DAI

  • Able to handle confidential and/or sensitive information with discretion.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.

  • Able and willing to travel to any country where DAI currently operates or may wish to operate barring times when DAI Global Security has deemed travel unsafe.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in diverse teams, create inclusive work environments, and work effectively within a culturally diverse environment.

  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred, but not required:

  • Experience managing change, leading automation initiatives, implementing an ERP
  • Strong working knowledge of FAR and CAS
  • Professional working proficiency in Power BI
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience

Compensation & Benefits:

For employees working the United States, the full-time equivalent annual base salary for this position is expected to be between $136,406 to $167,743. Salary for part-time employees will be prorated based on actual hours worked. Actual offers will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant education, experience, skills, seniority, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Eligible U.S. based employees, will be able to enroll in medical, dental and vision insurance, plus a 401(k)-retirement plan with a company match. Additionally, employees will be eligible for company-paid annual leave (vacation & holidays), sick leave, parental leave; as well as short- and long-term disability coverage. Detailed information will be provided at the time a formal offer is extended.

For employees working outside of the United States, compensation and benefits will vary based on location.
