Digital Associate: Planning and Activation

DDC Public Affairs is seeking a razor-sharp, savvy Associate of Digital Planning and Activation. As a member of our growing Digital Team, you'll be at the forefront of a digital-first approach to advocacy, building integrated digital programs that are changing the way advocacy clients engage with their constituents and the general public.

The Associate position will partner closely with multiple Digital Associate Vice Presidents to help execute integrated digital campaigns across paid, earned, and owned digital media. This position offers a unique opportunity to drive excellence in execution, test and optimize campaigns, and build best-in-class digital activation strategies.

Finally, we consider training a priority, giving you an opportunity to attend workshops, build close relationships with key digital partners like Facebook, Google, and Twitter, dive deep into new digital tools and betas, and collaborate with experts in the field.

To be successful in this role, you'll need to be an excellent project manager, a self-starter, and have a strong work ethic. You will also need to have a passion for data-driven decision-making and be a strategic thought-leader. This is a collaborative work environment, so the ideal candidate must be a team player and have a good sense of humor.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing and executing integrated paid digital and social media campaigns

  • Managing multiple client engagements simultaneously

  • Generating regular reporting and analytics

  • Developing and executing social landscape reports

  • Developing and managing rapid response plans

Qualifications:

  • Candidates should have up to 2 years of integrated digital media planning and activation experience in a media agency or political campaign

  • Excellent project management abilities

  • Certifications in AdWords, DoubleClick, Facebook, Twitter a plus

  • Experience with tags, site analytics, and audience segmentation a plus

  • Experience with email strategy and social content calendars a plus

  • Fluent user across social media platforms

Position Overview The Associate I, Planning and Budget reports to and supports the Manager, Planning and Budget in providing internal customers with full-service budgeting and financial services. The Associate I will work directly with internal customers to create and monitor the budgets and forecasts; provide accurate and timely financial reporting; ensure compliance with adopted policies and procedures and donor reporting requirements; and provide a high level of customer service. The Associate I will also support the Manager, Planning and Budget with expense and commitment tracking for board reporting purposes, as well as ad hoc projects as needed. The Manager and Associate I are responsible for having a strategic view across the planning and budget unit. With support from the Manager, the Associate I will assist in understanding the consolidated financial reporting needs across the planning and budget team, and designing and developing reports using Tableau to meet organizational needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong customer service skills, possess excellent interpersonal and communications skills, have relevant nonprofit accounting and finance knowledge and experience, including budgeting, program reporting, donor reporting and financial analysis; be detail oriented; work well in a team environment; possess strong problem-solving and Excel skills; possess robust report design and creation skills, and enjoy learning about the business as it grows and applying this knowledge to process improvements. Responsibilities * Deliver high quality customer service to customers and develop strong relationships with identified customers. * Develop and maintain knowledge about Pew's accounting, finance, budgeting, donor, procurement, and contracting policies, procedures, and practices (e.g. commitment authority, spending authority, expense policies, foreign currency policy, month-end and year-end close processes, financial code/chart of accounts); and remain current as new policies, procedures, and practices are implemented. * Work with internal customers, with assistance as necessary from more senior staff, to create or modify budgets for executive review and approval. * Write the budget narrative with assistance from more senior staff, as necessary. * With guidance from more senior staff, research issues and propose potential solutions. * Create and maintain budget templates; educate internal customers as necessary on how to complete budget templates and interpret budget revenue and spending guidance; and ensure the timely and accurate upload of all budget templates into the appropriate PeopleSoft modules. * Work with internal customers to monitor actual revenues and expenses against budget; explain material budget variances; highlight areas of concern and propose options to address these concerns; and perform analytics to inform timely and accurate decision-making. * Work with internal customers and Pew's Philanthropic Partnership Group to develop donor budget proposals, track donor spending (ensuring spending is in compliance with donor agreements),and provide donor financial reports. * Work with internal customers to build and maintain forecasts. * Prepare presentations and training to support the implementation/rollout of new/ongoing budget and financial management processes/process improvements, including planning and budget's Tableau financial reports. * Assist in the design and creation of consolidating reports, typically in Tableau, that provide financial information to senior leadership in order to make business decisions. Apply knowledge of PeopleSoft financial management and reporting system (including chart fields) to the responsibilities of the position. * Track board approved program commitments and assist Manager, Planning and Budget with other board reporting requirements as needed. Establish effective working relationships with staff members throughout Pew and assist in special projects as assigned. * Conduct ongoing evaluations and refinement of business processes to ensure accurate and timely support and problem resolution to internal customers. Develop and maintain support procedures to ensure effective problem resolution, promptness, reliability of service, and customer satisfaction. * Develop a broad knowledge of finance-related acumen. Participate in conferences, seminars and other professional development activities to keep expertise current. Requirements * Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting is required. * A minimum of one year of progressively responsible accounting/finance experience is required. * Strong Excel skills required. * PeopleSoft Financials experience a plus. * Tableau experience a plus. * Business process improvement experiences a plus. * Strong analytical and customer services skills are required. * Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills including the ability to effectively interface with staff and management.
