Job Description:

The Colas Innovation Manager is looking for an innovative Developer to join the team. We require strong communication skills, ongoing interaction with strategic business counterparts, detailed requirements analysis/design, and development of internal web applications utilizing the .Net Framework, JQuery and MS SQL Server.

As a developer, you will be part of our Innovation Team, interacting directly with our Innovation Manager and our internal customers on a daily basis to provide support in bringing ideas to life.


  • Analyze and assess existing business systems and procedures.

  • Assist in the definition, development, and documentation of business requirements, deliverables, and specifications on a project-by-project basis in collaboration with internal users.

  • Research and document requirements of software users.


  • Conduct research on emerging application development software products, languages, and standards in support of development efforts.

  • Ability to coordinate with vendors for efficient implementation of new software products or systems and for resolution of any adaptation issues.

  • Recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements and upgrades.

Operational Management

  • Coordinate with IT administrators, business analysts to assist in resolving problems with software products and systems. User support, troubleshooting and resolution.

  • Design, run and monitor software programs and applications according to specifications.

  • Write programming scripts to enhance functionality and/or performance of company applications as necessary.

  • Perform analysis of test results and deliver solutions to problem areas.

  • Develop and maintain user manuals and guidelines.

  • Install software products for end users as required.

  • Prepare training materials and train end users to operate new or modified programs.

  • Present professionally at executive presentations


  • College degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or software engineering, and or equivalent work experience.


  • Software Development Experience - 1+ years

  • 1+ years expertise with the design, prototyping, development, testing, and production support of MS SQL Server and Microsoft PowerApps

  • Experience with Power BI, Microsoft Power Applications, Microsoft Suite, Sequel Server

  • Basic mobile application development skills

  • Experience effectively communicating and training business users on software solutions

  • Design, coding, testing and debugging skills

  • Working knowledge of software development methodologies

  • Understanding of Object Orientated Analysis and Design and Component analysis

  • Must have time management skills and be able to work within allocated timeframes/schedules

  • A proactive approach to problem solving, taking ownership of issues and having the determination to follow things through

  • The ability to present and absorb complex ideas quickly and accurately

  • An ability to balance multiple time-critical tasks

These include research, marketing and communications, gift processing, data base management, estate gift planning, and other services. These central services produce economies of scale by eliminating the need for these back office functions to be duplicated on each of the four campuses. They also place the institution in an optimal position to attract substantial support from the philanthropic sector. Position Summary: Reporting to the Director of Digital Engagement, the Front-End Developer primarily provides user interface and user experience design and development in support of digital marketing initiatives for the University of Colorado Office of Advancement. The Digital Engagement team is an innovative and versatile group of marketers and technical specialists whose mission is to drive and support adoption of modern, sophisticated digital technologies and strategies for CU's advancement and fundraising efforts. This role will work collaboratively across multiple functional areas to help bring our marketing initiatives to life across all digital channels, including CU's giving website and Salesforce-based platforms. Specific areas of focus include, but are not limited to: * Developing and improving the front-end for new and existing websites, applications and features * Designing, prototyping and implementing interactive experiences across web, email and social media * Optimizing UX through user research and iterative testing * Implementing solutions for personalization, tracking and data analysis * Monitoring and maintaining front-end integrity and performance of digital channels A successful candidate will be a flexible and experienced developer with expertise in UI and UX development and an understanding of marketing fundamentals.
