Associate Designer

As the associate designer, you will measure and draw assigned projects including but not limited to functional programming; space planning; specification of furniture, finishes, and equipment; and more, rendering projects using hand or mechanical means. In this position you will be responsible for creating and distributing project punch lists and reviewing/entering work orders, ensuring completion of work orders through site inspections and supervising quality control, and assisting with pre-quarter classroom setups and events. You will be expected to make furniture and product purchases for projects via the university inventory and vendors, maintain project deadlines, organize and maintain the design library, and organize current project information and archive old projects. Responsibilities in this position include adhering to OSHA standards, leading a setup team and departmental moves, and managing high value projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in interior design, architecture, or a building arts field

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage a variety of projects

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to interact professionally with various employees across the university including leadership and other key decision makers

• Ability to pass DOT medical exam

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

• Valid driver's license

• Acceptance as SCAD authorized driver

Travel Required:

• Less than 10%

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
