Job Title: Associate Designer

Company Overview

Kellwood designs, manufactures, and markets a growing collection of premier fashion brands across a broad range of consumer lifestyles including Democracy, Jolt, My Michelle, and Briggs.



  • Assists in performing research, including shopping to determine and analyze fashion trends in color, style, fabric, trims and competitive product. Confers with sales and management executives about findings and predictions. Compares fabrics and other apparel materials, and integrates information with personal interests, tastes, and knowledge of design to create new designs for target customers. Learns target customer and price points.

  • Sketches rough and detailed drawings of apparel and writes specifications describing factors such as color scheme, construction and type of material to be used.

  • Assists in coordinating activities of workers involved in pattern making, cutting and sample garment construction.

  • Assists in the examination of sample garments on and off model and modifies design as necessary to achieve desired effect.

  • Monitors calendar to ensure completion of line.

  • Responsible for creating accurate Illustrator flats for all styles to be entered into the Tech Pack.

  • Responsible to determine all yields, fabric and trim information, checking for accuracy before handing off to the tech Team.

  • Responsible to stay on the planning calendar for the hand off of all technical Information to the production team. Owns the communication of the details of these handoffs to the Production team.

  • Create accurate paperwork to be communicated to the Technical Designers for entry into the PDM package. This final step is critical to insure all information entered into the final Production PDM package is accurate and will produce the garment to specifications required.



  • A two to four year degree in apparel/textile related major with a 3 plus years' experience in, design or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

  • This position requires a detailed oriented individual and strong self-starter with knowledge of garment design, fabric, color, trend, some sewing and garment construction, and spec writing. Preferred experience in WebPDM, Illustrator and Photo Shop.

  • Strong organizational, time management and communication skills with the ability to prioritize the workload in order to meet all objectives.

  • This position requires effective work relationships across multiple levels and functions.

  • Ability to take direction and work cohesively under pressure in an environment of constant shifting priorities and change.

Individual will contribute to the transfer of audio visual designing / drafting services in-house from our current third party vendor to improve the turnaround period. Main Objective: Develop CAD designs for AV hardware systems to support the coordination and installation of operating room integration products. Proactively prepare for new projects by requesting information, identifying key requirements, conducting inventory of all equipment/materials and resources to coordinate a successful project installation. Provide exceptional customer satisfaction, quality work, timely and efficient work flow to support a profitable operation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Develop CAD designs for AV hardware systems and their interconnectivity to include rack elevations, one-line drawings, and low voltage cabling drawings. * Complete design and drawing revisions per review feedback. * Establish and implement standard operating procedures for assigned projects as it relates to drafting and drawings for AV systems. * Review and complete required documentation including Request for Information, equipment order and change order forms with project management team. * Release scope of work statement for build with drawings and required documentation. * Provide field installation miscellaneous cables and parts list to project management team. * Create cable pull schedules for release to installation teams. * Provide hardware configuration and conduct baseline hardware testing. * Manage project escalations and complete any required change orders. * Perform research as needed for equipment used by integration team. * Works primarily unassisted or with minimal supervision and instruction while performing duties. * Attend required job related trainings, meetings, and interfaces with other departments. * Travel up to 10% domestically Incidental Duties: The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed in this job.
