Division Overview

Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business.

HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview

The Graduate Rotation Program is a rotational program aimed toward accelerated exposure in manufacturing/operations, design engineering, sales & marketing, or supply chain. The focus of the program can focus on Operations, Design, or Marketing depending on the needs of the company and the interest of the employee.

The program will span a 2 year period and requires relocation to 3 HPS facilities located in the United States. Assignments can be in Leeds (Birmingham), AL, Rocky Mount, NC, Aiken, SC, Centralia, MO, Lenoir City (Knoxville), TN, or Boonton, NJ.

Duties and Responsibilities

The GRP employee reports to the Director, Organizational Development for the first two years, but receives day-to-day assignments from local plant management, such as the Engineering Manager. The GRP employee will be assigned to a variety of tasks under general supervision.

Typical projects for an Operations GRP might include participating or leading kaizen events, designing cell layouts, creating work instructions, evaluating equipment effectiveness, fabricating fixtures, creating capital expenditure requests, designing, testing, or evaluating products, conducting time studies, and supervising a manufacturing team. Typical projects for the Marketing focus might include participating in marketing program design, product marketing, customer support, sales support, pricing, new product development, product installations, and product return evaluations.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with a focus on Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or similar focus.

  • Ability to relocate multiple times over a 2 year period. (Relocation assistance provided by the Company.) MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

AutoCad or similar software (Inventor, Solid Works, etc.)

Education

Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering

Other duties may be assigned. Store Merchandisers must service customers assigned by ensuring that all deliveries are properly worked by stocking our designated shelves and displays; ensuring that back stock be properly broken down and placed on appropriate pallets, bunkers, or trailers in an organized fashion; gather all shells/flats, pallets to be picked up, and damage or out of date be bundled and placed in pick up area for next delivery. May assist Presales and Delivery Associates by reviewing our promotions and new sales orders with the necessary managers at our customer's location before finalizing the order sheet for the next delivery date. Communicates issues, problems, or opportunities with sales and delivery team. Be award of: New product offering(s), sales events/promotions, and display opportunities. Adheres to daily schedule and insures each account is serviced on a daily basis. Must adapt to any changes in work assignments as well as supporting organizational restructuring efforts. Inspects and maintains customer's shelves, end caps, and other allocated space are kept clean and neat. Audits and pulls out-of-date or damaged products and rotates product in order to maintain the freshest product level possible on a regular basis. Assists sales and delivery team by supporting forecasting sales based on previous sale reports and upcoming promotions/sales to ensure accuracy for our customer and minimize pallet pick-ups.
