The Sheldon B. Lubar College of Business, known for superior scholarly research and academic programs, is accredited by AACSB International since 1970. Job Summary

The Lubar College of Business is seeking candidates for the position of Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. This is a Limited Appointment on an annual pay basis. The appointment is expected to begin August 1, 2024. The Associate Dean is a key member of College leadership and works collaboratively with the Dean, and other members of the College administrative staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, vision, development, and oversight to the Academic Affairs of the Lubar College of Business.

  • Be a resource to all staff and faculty to effectively and efficiently manage, promote, and ensure the production and continuity of all the Lubar academic programs.

  • Oversee the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, Director of Master's Programs, Administrative Affairs Coordinator, Academic Affairs & Ph.D. Program Coordinator, and Accreditation Director to ensure that he/she meets or exceeds all of his/her annual targets.

  • Plan and schedule all Undergraduate, Graduate and Doctoral level courses of the Lubar College during each semester including Winterim and Summer semesters.

  • Identify, and recruit appropriate adjunct faculty as needed to staff scheduled courses in the Lubar College of Business. Appointment of adjunct faculty also entails coordinating with area chairs on credentialing adjuncts as well as for providing the necessary guidance to adjunct faculty on pedagogy, content, and teaching expectations.

  • Review student evaluations of all faculty and counsel faculty as needed on improving course delivery and student evaluations as needed.

  • Oversee efforts on increasing online program or course offerings within Lubar College and ensuring high quality of these offerings.

  • Work with faculty in ensuring currency of our programs and courses.

  • Work with faculty to get new programs, courses, or curriculum changes approved.

  • Be a liaison for the Lubar College of Business with all other academic divisions, departments, and schools at UWM as needed.

  • Review and act on all faculty and staff requests for financial assistance by the Lubar College of Business for travel and other activities consistent with the College's policies.

  • Participate in student recruitment information sessions to promote the Lubar College of Business.

  • Interact with all faculty committees of the Lubar College of Business to communicate the Dean's Office's priorities and positions and communicate to the Dean the positions and decisions of the faculty committees.

  • Represent the Lubar College of Business at all campus committee meetings as needed.

  • Participate in new and adjunct faculty orientations at the start of each academic semester.

  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Communications and Administrative Affairs, and Divisional Finance Officer on all matters related to the Lubar College of Business.

  • Supervise the Accreditation Director in planning, and execute all activities related to maintaining the AACSB Accreditation of the Lubar College of Business including reviews and enhancements of all academic programs and student outcomes.

  • Provide academic oversight to all credit-bearing programs including bachelors, masters (MBA, EMBA, MS) and doctoral.

  • Organize research events such as Peecha Kucha, speed networking event, research panels/poster sessions to foster a culture of research in Lubar College.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Faculty with tenure at The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with faculty and academic staff personnel actions and budget matters

  • Experience with strategic planning

  • Experience with the schedule of classes

  • Experience with managing space and facilities

  • Experience overseeing academic program initiatives and reviews

  • Experience advancing research support

  • Experience with governance committees
