Job Summary

Augusta University seeks an Associate Dean of Extramural Clinics for the Dental College of Georgia. This position provides leadership, oversight, and strategic planning for Dental College of Georgia (DCG) clinical activities that are external to the main campus in Augusta.

Sites include current clerkship rotations, Ryan White clinics, the development of new DCG external clinic sites, and the DCG expansion to Savannah, Georgia. The position is responsible for direct integrated implementation and evaluation of compliance initiatives and on-going activities for the extramural clinical sites, as well as identifying and securing additional clinical service opportunities throughout the state of Georgia. The position will develop and maintain a proactive approach to quality assurance and compliance within the extramural clinical sites of the DCG.

The position is also responsible for establishing calibration training to ensure CODA compliance as it relates to students receiving academic credit for external clinical activities, implementing policy and procedures to ensure that the compliance throughout the extramural sites are effective in ensuring standards of patient care consistent with the DCG clinics and high-quality dental education, and overseeing the federally funded clinical activities both within the DCG and extramurally. The Associate Dean will serve as the primary liaison for the DCG Savannah expansion and will work with the DCG Dean, Augusta University, and Georgia Southern leadership. The position is located primarily in Savannah, Georgia to facilitate this oversight.

This position is considered administrative faculty with rank of Associate Professor or Professor. The tenure track (on tenure track or not on tenure track) of this position will be determine based on experience.

Responsibilities

1.Implements and monitors extramural compliance in accordance with DCG expectations

2.Ensuring extramural compliance with state and federal regulations regarding the practice of dentistry (ie. DEA, OSHA, GDPH, OSAP)

3.Conducts inspections of extramural clinical spaces.

4.Provides annual compliance and calibration training for extramural adjunct faculty.

5.Actively seeks federal funding to support extramural clinical activities.

6.Serve as the liaison for the DCG Savannah expansion. This includes working with the DCG Dean, AU Leadership, and GSU leadership.

Required Qualifications

DDS/DMD or foreign equivalent degree required.

Eligible for an unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the state of Georgia.

Demonstrated successful operation of a multi-specialty clinical practice. Possess a minimum of five years of significant management experience.

Associate Professor

  • Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.

Professor

  • Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:

  • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)¿s requirements for institutional accreditation;

  • Evidence of ability as a teacher;

  • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;

  • Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,

  • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications

Proficient in the dental E.H.R. for auditing and reporting functions.

AEGD and/or accredited residency/specialty training and/or healthcare management training is desirable. Current board certification if applicable.

Previously held a significant leadership role in a complex, multi-faceted university, clinical group practice, or dental school with proven ability to provide leadership to other dentists, health care professionals and staff in clinical operations.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.

Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
