Reporting to the Dean of Health Sciences, the Associate Dean will be an expert in the area of Nursing, Imaging or Allied Health serving as a full-time, 12-month instructor responsible for assisting the Divisional Dean with managing administrative functions for the Health Sciences Division. This role will provide administrative leadership in program and curriculum development, institutional assessment, and improvement, faculty development and performance, maintaining compliance with relevant governing standards for the Division, and overseeing continuous innovation projects in the delivery of instruction and services. The Associate Dean will be assigned a teaching load in his/her field of expertise under the approval of the Divisional Dean.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in Nursing or Allied Health with credential in area of expertise. Must meet minimum SACSCOC criteria and the minimum criteria of other pertinent accrediting, licensing, and credentialing agencies in the area of teaching assignment with the division.

  • At least five (5) or more academic years of teaching experience.

  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience overseeing accredited nursing or imaging programs.

  • Proven intellectual leadership skills with a commitment to academia and a deep understanding of the mission of the Health Sciences division.

  • Collaborative leadership style that can motivate employees within a mission-driven culture.

  • Experience teaching hybrid, online, and/or multimodal courses.

  • Active problem solver and leader with an interest in learning and closing knowledge gaps.

  • Understanding of SACSCOC, assessment of student learning outcomes, and program level outcomes and program review.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in Nursing or Imaging with credential in area of expertise. Must meet minimum SACSCOC criteria and the minimum criteria of other pertinent accrediting, licensing, and credentialing agencies in the area of teaching assignment with the division.

Essential Duties

Divisional Administration:

  • Lead, evaluate, plan, and coordinate divisional compliance efforts, divisional projects, and compliance/accreditation priorities in consultation with the Divisional Dean.

  • Lead and guide compliance efforts, including ensuring compliance with SACSCOC, NCCCS policies and procedures, professional accreditation organizations, Strategic Innovation and Effectiveness practices, OSHA, etc.

  • Enhance continuous innovation efforts, including advising, technology application, curriculum development, and academic projects.

  • Oversee master scheduling efforts for courses offered within the division.

  • Address student concerns with a student-centered approach and complete associated documentation.

  • Supervise employees in conjunction with special projects, off-site center administration, and program improvement.

  • Perform duties of the Divisional Dean in his/her absence.

  • Embrace Forsyth Tech's core values, promote the vision statement, and advance all tenets of the institutional mission.

  • Coordinate, review and make recommendations to update divisional information in college publications, the website, e-Catalog, and other printed and digital material.

  • Collaborate with division partners for success with recruiting, selection, orientation, and evaluation of full and part-time faculty.

Curriculum:

  • Provide leadership, assistance, and encouragement to academic leadership and faculty in all instructional areas of the division and college.

  • Lead academic projects and provide academic oversight to achieve institutional and divisional mission, vision, and goals in conjunction with the Divisional Dean.

  • Review curriculum program changes with divisional dean to ensure they align with SACSCOC requirements, State requirements, and student completion goals.

  • Incorporate inclusive content and work to eliminate discriminatory and exclusionary content from curriculum

Teaching and Learning:

  • Serve as an academic instructor according to the Forsyth Technical Community College Position Description for Full-Time Faculty Member for the portion of duties outside of administrative release time.

  • Advise, register, and mentor students towards the program completion.

  • Enhance student academic success initiatives to improve completion, retention, and equity of success in instructional areas of the college.

Community Relations:

  • Maintain contact with specialized vocations where applicable.

  • Be alert to public relations opportunities and use these to promote the College and the department.

  • Serve on College teams as required.

  • Provide administration with information for institutional publications.

  • Responsible for working with the College's Educational Partnerships team to recruit students into programs within their divisions.
