ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides legal services and advice to University administrators and other employees.
Produces and performs a mix of legal work with a focus on dispute resolution, litigation support, University policy development, and legal research and writing, but occasional transactional and contract work, as well.
Recommends courses of action to resolve issues infused with legal considerations.
Completes other duties, as assigned.
Remains abreast of existing and emerging technologies, processes, products, services and leading industry performance benchmarks.
Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU's mission.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Education and Experience
Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school with one (1) to five (5) years or more legal experience; licensed to practice law in Virginia or able to be licensed, whether fully or as corporate counsel; leadership qualities and experience; demonstrated walk as a committed Christian; successful completion of background check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and experience in a broad range of administrative, dispute resolution, tort, contract, privacy, intellectual property and other disciplines of law, including knowledge of higher education law and administration.
Prior in-house experience and/or representation of higher education clients and/or civil litigation experience.
Demonstrate confidence and leadership with humility.
Accept corrections with grace and humor.
Strong academic record at both the undergraduate and professional levels.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work Environment
The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting. It is well lighted, and the noise level is moderate. The work hours are during office hours: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Driving Requirements
Use of one's personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) is required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position. Proof of a valid Virginia driver's license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.
