Overview
PURPOSE STATEMENT:
The Associate Counsel, who will report to the Company's Executive Vice President and General Counsel, is primarily responsible for representing the Company and its affiliated facilities on matters involving physician/clinician contracting, med staff matters, and regulatory compliance. In addition, this attorney will oversee the legal department's contract approval and tracking functions, along with developing and maintaining certain corporate policies. This lawyer is a key member of the legal team and will be an important contributor to a variety of matters involving the Company.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Draft, negotiate and manage all physician and midlevel provider services and employment agreements
Work collaboratively with physician recruitment services, human resources, and facility leadership to finalize physician and midlevel provider placement
Provide advice and guidance on medical staff matters and issues
Analyze and advise on various areas of substantive healthcare law, including the Anti-Kickback Statute, the Stark Law, and the False Claims Act.
Review and assist in the negotiation of various agreements with vendors, service providers, and other third parties to ensure regulatory compliance.
Develop and maintain contract templates.
Provide counsel and advice to operations on regulatory issues and serve as a resource for operational questions
Assist with the development of internal policies, procedures and forms
Promote awareness of applicable laws and company policy and procedures and provide education and training to corporate employees and facility personnel on such laws and policies
Collaborate with other legal team members to design and improve legal department processes and workflows.

Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
Hybrid 3 days per week in office
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
JD with at least 8 years of legal experience in the healthcare industry, including provider-based clients.
Preferred candidate has both law firm an in-house experience.
Must be able to independently handle a variety and high number of legal matters with minimal supervision from the General Counsel.
Must possess strong judgment, collaborative problem solving skills, and ability to spot potential issues quickly and propose solutions.
Extremely organized and able to schedule and prioritize workload and deliverables to ensure timely response to wide variety demands and requests.
LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:
Juris doctorate
Admitted (or able to be admitted) to the TN bar.
