Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a products compliance attorney to be based in Seattle to support Amazon Web Services, a dynamic and rapidly growing business within Amazon.com. Amazon Web Services is at the forefront of the "cloud" computing and service industry, providing IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services, browsers and more. We are looking for a talented attorney to support Amazon's world wide data centers that power our rapidly growing and evolving cloud computing business.
You will be part of a team responsible for counseling Amazon's data center business on a broad range of health & safety, environmental, trade, and products regulatory and compliance matters. You will work directly with various AWS business functions--including the AWS supply chain, procurement, engineering and product functions--to support the global procurement, manufacture, transportation and distribution of AWS data center equipment and retail hardware products, and the global provision of web services. Principal duties include (i) advising business teams on global regulatory requirements governing the importation, distribution, and use of data center equipment and cutting edge consumer devices and working closely with the business to develop strategies to expand new products and services into global markets, (ii) monitoring and advising the business of upcoming regulatory changes, (iii) formulating, implementing, and maintaining applicable regulatory compliance policies and processes, and (iv) providing compliance-related legal support for AWS commercial transactions.
The qualified candidate must have three or more years of legal experience with a preferred background advising on products compliance issues or similar regulatory issues (e.g., environmental or telecommunications compliance). The successful candidate must be enthusiastic, and enjoy working hard, being challenged, and working in a fun, team-oriented environment. He or she must also demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.
A J.D. degree and membership in one state bar is required. Amazon offers its attorneys the opportunity to develop their experience and career with one of the world's most recognized and dynamic brands. Competitive salary includes equity.
