PR Associate

Support Director of Corporate Communications who oversees B2B, Product and Investor Relations Communications.

Team tasks include planning, development and execution of PR campaigns and brand initiatives

Support PR team with social media including PR blog and PR social handles; develop an editorial calendar for communication channels

Assist in media relations efforts when needed, including media list development and pitch writing

Participate in content development, including press releases and award submissions

Help manage incoming media requests

Support communications team with daily news reports and weekly and monthly reporting

Track news trends, media coverage, award wins and speaking engagements

Provide logistical and onsite support for communications-driven events

Manage upkeep of corporate bios and headshots for division spokespeople

Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, including excellent copy editing

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate with a variety of audiences

  • Experience with programs such as Cision and Critical Mention

  • Degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field with equivalent work and/or internship experience

Candidates should demonstrate an ability to decipher complex and sensitive topics to create compelling narratives, succinct talking points, powerful key messages and impactful communications strategies. Excellent media relations and content development skills are crucial. This person should be highly organized, energetic, and detail-oriented. In this role, you will work with a variety of people and teams to develop and execute effective, pro-active communications plans supporting Diversity, HR and Legal initiatives and announcements. This will include identifying and building relationships with reporters, creating media pitches and blog posts in addition to responding to media inquires quickly and thoroughly. You will be driving pro-active media coverage that positively positions Facebook as a leader in each of these areas. As well as managing incoming media inquiries to assure that Facebook's POV is included in all coverage accurately. The ideal candidate will have experience with media relations, excel at working collaboratively with executives and colleagues alike, and be comfortable with managing multiple projects simultaneously. This is full-time position can be located in Menlo Park, California, San Francisco, Washington DC, or New York City. RESPONSIBILITIES * Work cross-functionally to help develop impactful communications plans for Diversity, HR and Legal initiatives and announcements Create press materials including media pitches, blog posts, talking points, FAQs, fact sheets and videos Maintain ongoing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including executives and partners in Diversity, HR and Legal Provide counsel on communications strategies to internal stakeholders in Diversity, HR and Legal Identify and maintain relationships with a core set of reporters interested in these areas Work with internal teams to develop compelling narratives in support of communications priorities Develop briefing materials to prepare executives for media briefings and public events Identify and vet external presentation opportunities Serve as a company spokesperson to educate press, bloggers, analysts and influencers on Diversity, HR and Legal programs MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelors degree in Communications, English or related field 4+ years of work experience in communications, public relations or marketing communications Experience working with media to drive coverage or manage inquiries and convey them to audiences Communications experience with proven experience simplifying concepts and convey them to audiences Experience thinking and communicating strategically PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Experience working in an organization serving underrepresented communities Experience as a journalist Law degree Facebook is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities and disabled veterans in our job application procedures.
