The Team

We are seeking an Associate Construction Manager ("ACM") to join American Tower's Site Development organization. The Site Development team delivers all new assets and manages capital improvement and structural redevelopment projects across a given portfolio. Day to day you will focus on following operating policies, procedures and standards to ensure property assets are constructed and preserved through sound and consistent procedures. As an ACM, you will partner cross-functionally to focus on timeline adherence and overall successful implementation of construction initiatives for all project areas, including lighting and monitoring systems, tower modifications, capital improvements on existing assets, and backup power. The ACM position is a steppingstone to taking on additional responsibilities as a Construction Manager in which case relocation may be required.

What You Can Offer Us

  • Work with all levels of the Company's Network Development, Program Management, Engineering, and Network Operations teams on construction projects; manage budgets, schedules, vendors, site designs, material ordering, progress monitoring, site utility coordination, and closeouts.

  • Execute field team operational procedures to ensure consistent and continuous compliance by all employees and vendors with applicable safety and regulatory requirements, standards, and protocols.

  • Meet project timelines and deliver quality products.

  • Proactively identify potential risk issues and collaborate with the Senior Construction Manager to develop a preventative action plan to address them.

  • Provide problem resolutions and create good working relationships between the client/customer and field team. Troubleshoot, negotiate, and mediate client or subcontractor problems or complaints that arise at site level.

  • Develop strong internal and external relationships with key constituents and work with the Site Development team of Network Development and with the Network Operations Program Management teams to ensure projects are properly scoped and executed according to plan.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management required.

  • Minimum of 1 year of professional experience required.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required.

  • Demonstrated understanding of general construction principles and practices as they relate to wireless site construction projects.

  • Sound financial analysis and budgeting skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities.

  • Approximately 80% travel may be required in support of the position's responsibilities.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively.

  • Ability to work with different functional groups and levels of employees to effectively and professionally achieve results.

  • Strong organizational skills; ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment.

The Associate Project Manager will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. Your responsibilities * Plan and implement electrical projects at various customer work sites in the US, including the activities of staff and subcontractors * Electrical projects will be focused in the commercial construction markets and may include, but are not limited to, retail, airports, entertainment, hospitals, education (schools, colleges, universities) and multi-story residential. * Be the primary customer contact for the duration of each project. May commission, resolve specification issues, handle correspondence, provide periodic updates, ensure customer satisfaction, and negotiate / coordinate with staff as appropriate * Respond to call-out type repair requests from customers * Translate customer needs / requirements into detailed project plans while driving internal execution to meet project targets and on time delivery * Manage a network of internal and external resources (including contractors) in support of project execution * Identify opportunities to expand the project in ways that bring value to our customer and satisfy our profitability requirements * Take part in the writing of reports that describe the results of a project * Assemble and customize contractually required documentation at the onset and end of a project * Participate in the development of proposals for projects * Manage the project budget and timeline and ensure the resources are available to complete the project within budget and on time in order to meet customer obligations * Effectively lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting or exceeding loading targets of greater than or equal to the average for your role, with a minimum of: $6-8MM (30 - 40 projects) * Ensure that delivered products and services achieve highest quality and performance levels * Negotiate change orders with the customers * Professionally represent GE during all customer communications * Manage a varied staff that will include employees, customers, partner companies, or subcontractors Your background * Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college (or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum 4 years of experience in an engineering or project management position) * Minimum 3 additional year of experience in a project management, engineering or manufacturing role * Minimum 3 years of project management experience working in a lead capacity implementing projects in a field environment * Ability and willingness to travel, as required * Candidates must already have a work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in United States.
