Associate Commercial Mortgage Loan Analyst

Position Overview

Working as a member of the Asset Management Team within the Real Estate Investments Division, the candidate will assist in preparing asset management and underwriting models by collecting, analyzing, entering and verifying all property related information, current and historical operating statement and rent roll data, borrower financial and experience information, market, submarket and neighborhood characteristics and demographics, comparable rent, sales and capitalization rate information and any other relevant information. Assists the home office Asset Management and Legal areas by collecting and reviewing all required asset management loan documents, leases, survey, title policies, organization documents, property operating statements, rent rolls, borrower financials and other applicable asset management items. Assists Asset Management and Servicing areas with all post-closing servicing requests, collection efforts and other loan or property related items requiring information or follow-up with the borrower. Assists Asset Management with Loan Ratings, internal valuations, loan surveillance, and other special projects as required.

Responsibilities

• Collects, records and does preliminary analysis of borrower, property and operating statement information for preliminary underwriting and/or reporting purposes. Performs market research using real estate subscription services and creates reports for review. Prepares underwriting and rating base case models for review by senior associates. Reviews and analyzes borrower resume and financials, property operating history, rent roll, market rental and occupancy data, location information, building characteristics and demographic information.

• Assists the asset management group in all aspects of the loan rating process by facilitating the timely delivery and entering of all necessary borrower provided documentation, financials, operating statement information, and any other information required for analysis.

• Assists the home office servicing manager with all payment, tax and insurance related issues. Assists the asset management group with loan surveillance and all borrower requests including loan assumptions, assignments, escrow draws, partial releases, and tenant lease related activities by acting as the liaison between the borrower and Asset Manager. Assists home office management in all special servicing related matters in the event of a loan default.

• Researches, reviews and analyzes market and submarket data and prepares periodic reports on both positive and negative trends.

• Responsible for all the asset management loan requests, internal ratings, and surveillance for a defined loan portfolio. Portfolio management responsibilities include requesting and collecting information to assist in portfolio surveillance, quality ratings, annual inspections, loan requests, and other special projects as required. Responsible for analyzing additional property and loan information including annual property rent rolls, operating statements, borrower financials and market related information and reports.

• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

• Perform other job-related duties or special projects as required.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in business, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, IT or related area of study
• 3-5 years' experience working in an Insurance, banking or Financial Services company

Preferred:

• Commercial Real Estate related experience

Preferred:

• Knowledge of insurance company mortgage lending practices

• Knowledge of mortgage loan valuation or software

The general pay range for this position is $64k - $85k base per year. Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location.
