Short Description

  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for the direction, implementation and evaluation of patient care services within the assigned unit at the direction of the Clinical Director and in his/her absence.

  • This role is broad in scope and requires the ability to work independently and apply a high degree of judgment.

  • Assigns workload and assumes responsibility for the operational functioning of the department.

  • Ensures the delivery of patient care through the coordination of customer services and the leadership and management of the nursing unit at the direction of the Clinical Director.

  • Assists the Clinical Director in coordinating interdepartmental and ancillary activities to ensure quality, cost-effective patient care.

  • Assists the Clinical Manager in directing the preparation and maintenance of patient's clinical record, including nursing and medical treatments and related services provided by the Registered Nurse.

  • Assists the Clinical Director in leading the patient care team to meet the needs of the customers and to achieve departmental objectives.

  • Assists the Clinical Director in ensuring that the staff participates in educational activities and the evaluation process to enhance their personal growth and development.

  • Acting as a liaison between nursing and medical staff, serving as a problem-solver and mediator for positive change; develops and maintains effective intra and interdepartmental relationships.

Experience Required

  • A minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with 1 year of demonstrated leadership abilities.

  • Requires strong planning skills and a solid understanding of Patient and Family Centered Care.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.

Education Requirements

  • Graduate from an NLN accredited school of nursing.
  • BSN required.

License/Certification Requirements

  • Current New Jersey license as a Registered Nurse, BLS certification.

  • National certification preferred within area of specialty for critical care, operating room, endoscopy and trauma.

  • Certain specialties may require advanced certification (i.e. ACLS, NRP, PALS).
