Indiana University Health is seeking individuals who embody these values to join our Indianapolis Suburban Region's leadership team in the role of Associate Chief Nursing Officer.

The Associate Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) will be a transformational leader that supports the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to achieve the mission, vision, and values of IU Health and advance contemporary nursing practice. THE ACNO will create a productive environment and ensure the delivery of safe, timely, efficient, effective, equitable and patient-centered care. The ACNO partners with the CNO to create/maintain cultures of nursing excellence. The incumbent must articulate and embody the IU Health Way and lead through the IU Health Values of Team, Purpose, Compassion, and Excellence. The ACNO is responsible for achievement of organizational outcomes on the IU Health promise Dashboard, quality and safety improvement, care affordability, great patient experiences, and great team member experiences. This role supports CNO in cultivation of evidenced based decision making in clinical and leadership initiatives, shared leadership structures, professional practice models, and continual process improvement. The ACNO advocates for a learning environment through the implementation of evidenced based practice and clinical inquiry. The ACNO maintains a working knowledge of current clinical practice, regulatory requirements, and Magnet or Pathways standards impacting clinical environments.

Key Relationships

Reports to: Vice President - Chief Nursing Officer, Indianapolis Suburban Region

Direct Reports: Director of Surgical Services and Director of Clinical Operations

Candidate Qualifications

Candidates for the position will be selected from a diverse pool and will be evaluated according to the following criteria and competencies.

  • Master's degree in nursing or related field required.

  • If Master's degree is not in nursing a BSN is required.

  • Doctoral preparation preferred.

  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.

  • 5-7 years of clinical and supervisory experience in a director level capacity or relevant experience preferred.

  • Certification in a nursing specialty or administration preferred.

  • Requires in-depth knowledge of the nursing profession.

  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local regulatory agency guidelines and laws.

  • Requires leadership, management, and interpersonal skills.

  • This position requires novice knowledge of healthcare economics and policy as well as the ability to maintain productive working relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external to the organization.

  • Must desire to engage in local and regional professional activities through professional organizations.
