Overview

Element has an opportunity for an Associate Chemical Testing Technician for the sample preparation and testing of samples.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare water and soil samples for analysis in accordance with established QA procedures

  • Must be knowledgeable and understanding of the relevant SOPs to insure strict adherence of all procedures

  • Equipment / instrument maintenance as needed

  • Wash glassware and perform other tasks in required manner when necessary

  • Sample disposal

  • Follow all safety procedures and policies which includes the use of lab coats, gloves and safety glasses at all times within the lab

  • Cross-training in other areas as well as assisting throughout the lab when needed

  • Overtime, weekend and holiday work is possible as needed

Skills / Qualifications

  • To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily

  • Undergraduate degree in Science related field preferred; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, protected person status under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or U.S. Government export authorization is required. As a member of the operations team in one of the various laboratories across Element, the Associate Test Technician position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under direct supervision. The technician positions must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures. Responsibilities * Prepare material specimens for testing * Perform tests as directed by customer specifications * Operate under the supervision of a more senior test technician and/or a Department Manager * Gather and record test data * Construct and maintain various test fixtures and other laboratory equipment Skills / Qualifications * Working knowledge of laboratory safety * HS diploma or GED certificate preferred. College or vocational school coursework welcomed * 0-2 years' experience in a testing related field * Basic understanding of testing concepts * Possess computer skills. * Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry a plus * Possess the ability to work alone periodically throughout the work day with supervision * Understand what must be completed each work day and takes the initiative to complete those tasks properly and timely - does not need Senior/Principal Technician or management to explain what the task is. * Ability to read and understand customer specifications and perform the testing required * Able to develop a proven ability to set up and perform a variety of tests according to customer specifications under the supervision and technical input of Senior/Principal Physical Demands: Frequency of required physical force: Minimum (moderate).
