Job Summary

Leveraging our category management process as a decision tool, the Associate Category Manager will develop comprehensive category growth strategies focused around shopper centricity, enabling greater sell-thru and market share gains.

Small Chain and Regional Account Responsibilities

This position serves as the category management and consumer insights expert to the small chain and regional account teams.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • (20%) Establish strong working relationships with Business Development and Key Account Managers (BDMs and KAMs), providing "consumer-centric" analytical support as needed.

  • (20%) Make assortment recommendations (drive new distribution and optimize existing)

  • (10%) Play an advisory role in the creation of Planograms to support category management initiatives.

  • (10%) National Account and Co-operative Responsibilities

  • (10%) This position will play a leadership role in the development of planograms to support our Co-op and National Account's strategic objectives. Duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • (10%) Utilize Space Management software to design and maintain planograms aligned with Co-op and National Account strategies.

  • (10%) Analyze space performance and productivity reports

  • (10%) Engage with cross-functional subject matter experts to incorporate best practices in the development of POGs.

  • (10%) Additional Responsibilities

  • Work with Product Marketing to utilize category and consumer insights to help drive overall product launch strategy

  • Design and perform pre and post Implementation analysis of planograms

  • Communication of category and consumer trends

  • Provide guidance, direction and training of category management resources (software and reporting).

Education and Experience Profile

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field required
  • 2-3 years' experience

Required Skills

  • Space Management software knowledge (ProSpace/Intercept, Apollo or Spaceman)

  • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office Skills including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of data into actionable insights

  • Strong analytical skills, interpersonal skills, presentation and strategic business skills and time management skills.

  • Ability to build strong sustainable business relationships at all levels and functions of the organization and with customers and customer teams

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize work to meet deadlines is essential to be successful in this position.

  • Ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organization.

Work Environment

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment,
  • Up to 30% travel time is required

This individual will lead the overall product management and execution for all National Hardware product brands for all channels including retail, field sales, and warehouse customers. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Primary Duties and Responsibilities * (60%) - New Product Development (NPI) * Leads cross-functional team (engineering, sourcing, supply chain, finance) through multiple on-going product development projects at various stages of development via HHI milestone process. * Develop and execute strategic product road development. Understanding of market, channel and/or customer dynamics, product design, trends, and end –user preferences and purchase drivers. * Identify and develop new business opportunities, product adjacencies, customers and markets. * Development of NPI scope documents (preliminary financials, KPIs, timeline management, etc.) * Annual supplier and factory trips * Present and interact with senior level internal and external customers * Participate in annual 3-5 year strategic planning process. * (20%) - Talent Development * Hire, manage, and develop one to two individuals. Supervises departmental staff of 1-2 employees, monitor performances, and evaluates departmental effectiveness. Deploys situational leadership to ensure group objectives are met, while providing room for the team's personal contributions and growth. * Actively participates in Performance Management, Individual Development Plan creation and Goal Planning as part of preparing the team for advancement and leadership within the organization. * (10%) - Portfolio Maintenance * Supports brand guidelines to insure consistency, with specific influence on packaging, merchandising, and collateral related to assigned projects. * Coordinate meeting materials for customer product collaboration, line reviews and business reviews. Includes but not limited to product samples, display materials, labels, POP, research results and the printed presentation. * Work with quality and brand to support installation workshops, videos, and related initiatives. * Create and deliver training modules for internal and external customers. * Responsible for the sales and gross margin performance of portfolio, includes setting pricing, P&L, asset management etc. * Own product life cycle * (10%) – Business Processes * Contributes to HHI financial and business initiatives through established rhythms and assigned projects. Examples include sales and operations planning to improve forecast accuracy or inventory initiatives tied to working capital. * Support the management of the on-line databases to ensure proper content (internal as well as customer websites) * Manage product documentation process including mix management, product life cycle.
