Job Summary:

The Associate Business Systems Analyst is responsible for supporting university operations by organizing and coordinating computer system activities and processes in the Information Technology department.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1.Facilitates all facets of TCU Mobile platform implementation and ongoing maintenance, including, but not limited to:

  • Interviewing departments to determine content strategy

  • Coordinating with Marketing department to establish brand guidelines for TCU Mobile app

  • Discovering and documenting overlap between current applications and mobile interfaces

  • Establishing a content update schedule, collaborating with department liaisons

  • Determining and documenting IT and departmental needs to establish vendor integrated services such as PeopleSoft, RestAPI, SSO integration, and others as required

  • Enhancing and generating content as needed for integration of maps functionality, campus directory, and other content areas as required

  • Serving as TCU Mobile Administrator/subject matter expert in mobile platform operations, nuances, and required training activities

  • Troubleshooting any issues with TCU Mobile app that arise from campus community and beyond

  • Attending weekly calls with vendor

  • Creating and distributing analytics related to TCU Mobile usage, downloads, and other statistics

2.Assists in analyzing content, security, and structural needs for ERP systems such as PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Human Capital Management, or Finance.

3.Assists in evaluating and testing new or modified software programs and development. Coordinates quality assurance initiatives and processes for new software releases and upgrades. Documents changes and test scripts as required.

4.Collaborates with TCU departments as assigned to analyze and develop queries needed by administrative and academic offices.

5.Monitors, documents, and analyzes administrative systems performance norms and problems. Works with Information Technology and functional staff to isolate and identify root causes and solutions.

6.Documents functionality and maintains information on internally developed applications and customizations as required.

7.Supports the functional analysis and security authorization role of assigned functional departments such as the Post Office, MBA, Graduate Programs, and TCU Mobile app.

8.Assists in providing technical support and functional analysis to departments on various SaaS and Cloud products such as Terra Dotta, CollegeNet, EnrollmentRx, Technolution Slate, Maxient, Jaggaer, and Concur.

9.Assists in analyzing Cloud/SaaS software systems by performing tasks such as auditing security access controls, account management, data classification, and maintaining documentation related to systems.



  1. Monitors project progress by tracking activity, resolving problems, publishing progress reports, and recommending actions.

  2. Develops reports in currently supported reporting tools such as BI Publisher and Tableau.


Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Experience in Higher Education

  • Experience with PeopleSoft

  • Experience or education in User Experience/User Interfaces

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

  • None

Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:

  • Project Management certification or training

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of, or skills/ability to learn, various IT functions (networking, server and software systems, security, hardware, etc.), hardware and software, and desire to keep knowledge up to date.

  • Knowledge of, or skills/ability to learn, fundamental and complex SQL and ERP reporting concepts.

  • Knowledge of, or skills/ability to learn, current reporting and visualization tools.

  • Skill in department specific software.

  • Ability to analyze and identify problems and issues with existing and new applications.

  • Ability to facilitate communication among departments, build trust and develop relationships.

  • Ability to gain familiarity with enterprise applications in order to document, evaluate and make appropriate decisions related to those applications.

  • Ability to develop test scripts based on desired application functionality

  • Ability to work with external departments, analyze their needs and requirements and produce a functional specification that meets their business objectives and also takes into consideration development and security constraints.

  • Ability to evaluate software functionality and implement desired functionality with minimal input from management.

  • Ability to instruct end-users on system capabilities

  • Ability and aptitude to learn academic operations and support the academic mission.

  • Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.

  • Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.

  • Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.

  • Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.

  • Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment:

  • Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.

  • There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.

  • The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.

  • This role is an on campus, in-person position.
