Position Overview

Apollo is seeking a strong finance professional to join the Business Planning & Analysis (BP&A) function who is interested in diversifying their career experience through highly analytical and strategic work and working side-by-side with senior management. BP&A is responsible for the firm financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, Senior Management reporting, profitability analysis and other financial analysis work. The Associate or Associate Director position is structured to provide exposure across all disciplines of BP&A and build a comprehensive knowledge of Apollo's businesses and the alternative asset management industry.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Financial Analytics

  • Drive analytics and generate complex analyses to support the CFO and the Heads of the Businesses (Private Equity, Credit, Real Estate) on current and potential business initiatives

  • Works on ad hoc special projects (e.g., new fund profitability, fund acquisitions, international expansion)

  • Significant amount of financial modeling required to fully capture business drivers and understand trends

  • AGM Business Reporting, Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Maintains detailed and flexible models supporting annual budget, long-term plan and weekly forecast

  • Generates monthly and quarterly financial reporting tracking actuals vs. budget / forecast for key metrics working with Finance, Business and other departments (Marketing, Legal, etc.)

  • Variance analysis and forecast updates

  • Significant amount of financial modeling on current and potential business initiatives

  • Ad hoc special projects

  • Project Management

  • Assist with Design, Implementation, User-testing, and Relapse of a software reporting package to be used by the BP&A team

  • Common to all primary responsibilities:

  • Produces high quality, timely and insightful information to help senior management manage the firm and set direction

Responds in a timely manner to all ad hoc questions and requests for information

Qualifications & Experience

  • 2-4 years of financial analysis experience, ideally in Investment Banking, Big-4 valuation or advisory services

  • Highly analytical; Excellent Excel-based modeling skills are required

  • Exceptional PowerPoint presentation skills are required

  • Strong analytical thinking and financial reasoning capabilities with ability to think creatively

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Flexible and comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly demanding, rapidly changing environment

  • Operates with high energy and a "can do" attitude

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. * Establish strong partnership with i) NASH global leadership to support the commercialization of OCALIVA in NASH, ensuring cross functional/regional alignment on key priorities and ii) US Commercial team to support the uptake of OCALIVA in PBC and NASH * Proactively provide timely financial analysis and insights into the business to support decision making, ensuring proper funding of key priorities and driving optimal resource allocation * Coordinate and support planning process (incl. Budgeting, Latest Estimates, Long-Range Planning); proactively monitor progress and changes, as well as risk & opportunities * Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; prepare and consolidate reporting materials; clearly communicate financial performance * Lead month-end close and prepare accruals * Ensure SOX compliance, controls and proper tone in the organization. Simplify policies and procedures where appropriate * Support financial systems, expand current capabilities, streamline process and automate cross-functions/regional reporting QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics or Accounting, MBA preferred * 9+ years of work experience with increasing responsibility in a finance related field, preferably at a global pharmaceutical organization. Experience supporting commercial launches a plus * Experience managing budgeting and forecasting processes * Solid knowledge of accounting principles and financial systems (ERPs) * Ability to translate financial concepts and to effectively collaborate with colleagues who do not have finance backgrounds * Ability to work effectively across a matrixed organization by prioritizing and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment * Excellent communication (verbal and written) and relationship building skills * Ability to plan and manage multiple priorities under high pressure situations with tight deadlines * Customer focus * Strong communication and interpersonal skills * Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities, creative mindset * Ability to work independently, deal with complexity and ambiguity * Highly proficient using Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint * Experience with ERPs (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) Intercept Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
