Job Description:

The Associate Brand Marketing Manager (ABM) develops, plans and executes marketing creative and initiatives for national promotions and core menu initiatives. The ABM leads projects and initiatives that support the broader marketing strategy, provides analytics and insights support, and collaborates with key cross-functional partners like Consumer Insights, Finance, Culinary and Operations on key initiatives.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Supports Director and Brand Managers on Core Menu and Lunch projects

  • Converts brand strategies into innovative action plans to achieve marketing growth opportunities

  • Applies an understanding of consumer, marketing and industry trends to daily work activities associated with the development and execution of brand-building opportunities

  • Analyzes brand metrics (e.g., sales, guest-counts), identifies trends, monitors competitive activity, and provides recommendations to improve menu performance

  • Executes tests related to promotions, new food/beverage items, and other marketing initiatives; reports test results and evaluates projects for further national launch

  • Develops and nurtures cross-functional relationships with Restaurant Support Center teams

  • Manages resources, tasks, contracts, scope, and budgets for projects; supports others in budgeting, contract agreements, and invoice payment for vendor-related work

  • Collaborates to ensure the delivery of promotions that achieve financial goals (guest, sales, margin)

  • Develops briefs to guide projects; plans, organizes, monitors, and controls all aspects of a project to ensure engagement, commitment, and risk management

  • Executes daily tasks associated with all or portion of the product development process: product ideation, development, testing, implementation and post analysis of promotion/core menu plans

  • Supports others in the development and execution of national promotion marketing calendars

  • Manages creative and initiatives for various marketing communications (e.g. marketing activations, promotional creative, etc.)

  • Reviews and provides input on marketing communications; ensures that messages support the brand promise and are aligned with the brand

  • Seeks and acts on operator feedback to ensure new products support operations excellence

  • The ABM has no direct reports

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Can effectively translate strategy & insights into action plans

  • National Promotion Development and Management: Can lead national promotions that build the brand and drive the business

  • Consumer Knowledge:
    Demonstrates knowledge of current consumer and industry behaviors, trends, attitudes, preferences and needs

  • Project Management: Can achieve desired outcomes on time and within budget through the application of project management principles and techniques

  • Data & Analytics: Can analyze data, identify trends, and translate into insights & recommendations

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Marketing, Advertising, Business or related field)

OTHER KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years professional experience with 2+ years brand marketing experience; preferably in hospitality, retail, consumer packaged goods or advertising agency

  • Passion for food and hospitality industry

  • Team Player: Strong ability to build solid relationships across functions and businesses; across levels; between culinary and service teams. Works well with a team towards common goals

  • Organized Self Starter: Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to organize, plan, and follow-through on tasks. Strong attention to detail. Takes initiative and ownership.

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Solid ability to connect and engage with others across all levels of the organization and within the team

  • Some travel required

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • MBA (Marketing or Business) preferred

  • Proven product development and/or promotional activity experience

  • Demonstrated ability to influence, coach and hold team members accountable for performance

  • Prior experience with marketing teams and/or project management

He/she plans and organizes processes and technical improvements to deliver accurate materials in a timely manner. The Manager, Marketing Services manages relationships with vendors to ensure the delivery of final materials. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Oversees planning, organizing, monitoring, and controlling of projects to ensure engagement, commitment, and risk management; provides ongoing communications on projects status to ensure alignment across Brand Marketing * Provides strategic direction in managing the production process for menu creation (design, layout, and copy); oversees the printing and distribution of merchandising materials * Oversees management of press approvals, edits, reviews, and proofreading for merchandising materials * Oversees creation of graphic design and layout for all menu versions (e.g., core, promo, in-restaurant merchandise) * Assigns and delegates tasks to team members as appropriate * Provides oversight to ensure menu and merchandising material inventory levels are sufficient to support promotional calendar; authorizes buyers to make purchases as needed * Secures approval for department budgets and funding needs; oversees and manages the department budget * Oversees maintenance of menu content database used for versioning and analysis, and the development of menu version grids for core, promo and test menus * Develops and nurtures cross-functional relationships to exchange information and support ongoing projects and initiatives * Manages vendor and agency partner relationships * Establishes and champions a positive, vibrant culture within the work group that is consistent with Darden??s values * Coaches for performance by delivering performance-based and developmental feedback * Establishes short-term and long-term goals and strategic plans for the team * Oversees and manages all aspects of vendor-related contracts and work ?? scope statement, contracting, budgets, invoice payment, etc. * Oversees support of restaurant operations by responding to inquiries and providing relevant information and/or resources; coaches others to ensure effective operations processes to support operations excellence * Works with employees to establish annual Performance Management Plan (PMP) goals and provides feedback throughout the performance cycle * Leverages knowledge of Brand marketing strategy to ensure alignment of merchandise materials (e.g., menus) * Encourages knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and best-practice sharing among team members * Develops strategies to research new technologies within the printing and graphics industry to create leading-edge capabilities * Participates in talent review/succession planning and selection processes for positions within the department REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS: * Knowledge and comfort with the use of computers and various programs and information systems * Exhibits functional knowledge of all phases of pre-press and print production to include graphic design and layout, proofing, four color printing, and finishing * Creates and manages the technical creative design process * Adjusts scope or resources as appropriate; Mitigates potential risk to the project * Ability to analyze and evaluate information * Supervises the creative production process; Builds solid partnerships with agencies and/or vendors Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications REQUIRED EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Advertising, Graphics, Marketing, Communication, Computer Science, IT, or a related field required.
