Responsibilities

New York Institute of Technology seeks an Associate Director of Athletics/Senior Woman Administrator in accordance with NCAA, East Conference and University Rules, Regulations and Policies. Reporting to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and serving on the Department of Athletics Senior Management Team, the Associate Athletic Director/SWA will act as a key decision-maker in the operation of the athletic department.

Responsibilities include:

  • Strategizes ways to support and manage gender equity and Title IX plans and issues.

  • Generate, review and modify as necessary the Gender Equity Plan for athletics.

  • Advocates issues important to female and male student-athletes, coaches and staff.

  • Implement and manage sound academic standards

  • Assist student-athletes with the registration process and monitors early registration alongside university academic advisement.

  • Monitors student-athletes academic success and provides assistance and guidance when necessary.

  • Implements, manages and oversees Department of Athletics community service program.

  • Attend meetings as necessary

  • Create reports to support the functions of The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation.

  • Select sport oversight and other duties as assigned by the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation.

  • Oversight of the Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC)

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.

Master's Degree preferred or relevant combination of education and experience preferred.

Senior Level Athletics Administration required.

Knowledge of compliance with NCAA and ECC rules.

Knowledge of Student-Athlete Grant Aid Process.

Strong computer skills, with proficiency in MS Office. Ideally an intermediate to advanced user of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, FrontPage, and PeopleSoft.

Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertaining to resource monitoring and coordination.

CPR/AED certified.

Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities * Identify and disseminate grant and contract solicitations and policy notices to faculty in their respective fields, including medicine, allied health, behavioral and life sciences, engineering and computing sciences, architecture and design, arts and sciences, and management. * Assist faculty in developing competitive grant and contract proposals; budget preparation. * Review, scientifically edit, assemble, and submit paper and electronic proposals to sponsors. * Mentor faculty and staff in grant writing, grantsmanship, and grant and contract management; interpretation and dissemination of guidelines, regulations, and compliance requirements. * Liaise with sponsors; negotiate, execute (as Signatory Official), and monitor grants & contracts; prepare research sub-award agreements and other contracts in consultation with General Counsel. * Assist Office of Financial Affairs with post-award fiscal management of grants and contracts. * With Provost, develop campus policies that foster research, scholarship, and creativity. * Prepare reports on sponsored project activity; provide data for institutional reporting and publicity; prepare data requests to Institutional Research and Assessment Office for faculty. * Assist institutional officials and faculty in developing proposals for infrastructure improvement. * Administer domestic and global small-grants programs in accordance with New York Institute of Technology's collective bargaining agreement with Local-American Association of University Professors (AAUP). * Supervise sponsored programs staff and graduate assistants. * Maintain grants and IRB databases; create and maintain Office of Sponsored Programs and Research (http://www.nyit.edu/ospar) and IRB (http://www.nyit.edu/ospar/irb/) websites. * As New York Institute of Technology's Human Protections Administrator, provide oversight of two Institutional Review Boards and maintain Federal wide Assurance for the Protection of Human Subjects. * Organize and manage Institutional Review Board Office, including: supervision of IRB Administrator; technical review of human subject protocols; interpretation and application of DHHS human subject regulations; organization and participation in IRB meetings; preparation of IRB minutes, agendas, and policies; and recruitment and training of IRB members and PIs. * Serve on Academic Senate, Patent Committee, and other internal committees. * Provide advisement to faculty and staff on intellectual property and technology transfer; review Invention Disclosures; perform prior art searches; liaise with General Counsel on IP matters. * Prepare and help administer university-wide policies on Misconduct in Research, on Conflicts of Interest in Research, on Required Education in the Protection of Human Research Participants, etc. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree required * Master's or PhD preferred * Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in sponsored project administration * Preaward sponsored project administration; IRB administration; scientific editing; grant accounting; facility with spreadsheets, databases, and word processing programs * Facility with MS Office including Word, Excel, and Access; Adobe Acrobat; Oracle; extensive experience with electronic research administration systems including Grants.gov, NIH eRA Commons, and NSF FastLane; NIH, CITI or equivalent training in human subject protection * Broad knowledge of federal, state, and private, including corporate, funding sources; * A strong track record in grant and contract administration and contract negotiation; * Extensive knowledge of federal regulations and agency policies governing grant and contract administration; * Analytical skills necessary to identify and convey compliance requirements to faculty and staff; * Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills; * Advanced computer proficiency including extensive experience with relational databases, spreadsheets, and word processing programs; * Extensive experience in proposal and budget preparation; facility with electronic systems for proposal submission and research administration including Grants.gov, NSF FastLane and NIH eRA Commons; * Strong oral and written communications skills; * Supervisory experience and demonstrated leadership and teamwork; * Strong work ethic, service-orientation, and attention to detail; * Commitment to a culture of compliance; * Knowledge of human subject and animal welfare regulations and experience in Institutional Review Board management; * Personal initiative; and a proven ability to perform, prioritize, and delegate multiple tasks, and to deliver high-quality, timely results in a deadline-driven environment.
