Georgia Tech Office of Development (DEV)

Led by the Vice President for DEV, Jen Howe (https://www.linkedin.com/in/jen-howe/), our fundraising team at Georgia Tech currently consists of 88 professionals who are focused on securing transformative philanthropy (major and principal gifts) to support the strategic priorities of the Institute and its colleges, schools, and programs including Athletics. For fiscal year 2022 (closed 6/30/2022), the DEV team¿s efforts resulted in over $211 million in new gifts and commitments which helped to publicly launch Georgia Tech¿s largest comprehensive campaign in the Institute¿s history Transforming Tomorrow:

The Campaign for Georgia Tech which is intended to bring over $2 billion in new commitments and gifts from individuals, foundations, corporations, and other organizations. One of the most significant priorities within Transforming Tomorrow is ensuring access of the brightest undergraduate, graduate and professional students to Georgia Tech, regardless of their socioeconomic background. Within the campaign, DEV has already secured $170M towards Athletics initial campaign target of $300M to support facilities, current operations, endowment. It is anticipated that Athletics priorities and goals will be expanded and increased during the final five years of the public phase of the campaign, in order to fulfill the future vision of Georgia Tech Athletics, ensure the athletic and academic success of our student-athletes both on and off the fields and courts of competition, and provide a sustainable financial base for Athletics within the ever-changing marketplace of collegiate sports.

Job Summary

The Assc Athletics Dir Dev Ops will oversee and help plan and implement a comprehensive fundraising operation measured against competitive peer groups, the Atlantic Coast Conference and other Power 5 institutions. Specifically, the individual will have oversight of day-to-day operations, communications, stewardship, and events, and work in tandem with the GT Athletics fundraising team.

Will establish operational excellence and efficiencies that support the GT Athletics fundraising team. This role will manage the relationship between the Alexander Tharpe Team and other campus units and will serve as a presence in the absence of the Executive Director for all internal meetings. This role will partner with the Office of Developments Donor Experience and Operations team to ensure compliance with Office of Development and USG policies and procedures related to events, communications, stewardship opportunities, and operational plans. The Associate AD for Operations will serve as the primary contact for Alexander-Tharpe Board Members, and will have managerial oversight of Business Operations, Stewardship, and Events.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 - Reports to the Executive Director, leading strategic thinking, direction, and assists with management of all operations including, business and gift management, events, stewardship, web management and engagement, and information technology

Job Duty 2 - Works in tandem with Georgia Tech Athletics Chief of Staff and Executive Assistant, ensure alignment of scheduling and production of proper briefing materials for all high-level external constituents and donors for Athletics Director, Executive Director or other as assigned

Job Duty 3 - Oversight of events, annually evaluating event planning and effectiveness, and communicating across GTAA including but not limited to GTAA Facilities and marketing

Job Duty 4 - Assist Executive Director in development officer activity management, performance, and prospect management, including but not limited to: scorecards, expense management and reporting and fulfillment of Institute Development processes and pipeline management. Assist Executive Director with strategic leadership and operational excellence across gift administration.

Job Duty 5 - Assist Executive Director, Athletic Director, and other leadership entities in growth strategy in total commitments annually, cash received annually, and donor participation

Job Duty 6 - Primary contact for database operations and analytics, interfacing with other Institute units and affiliates as directed, including but not limited to the Georgia Tech Foundation and Alumni Relations. Ensure that data requests and reporting needs are met with timely, consistent and accurate provision of information

Job Duty 7 - Oversee or assign management of student and volunteers as needed, budgeted, and allowed

Job Duty 8 - Assist in creating working relationships with staff from the Alexander-Tharpe Fund and other units across Georgia Tech Athletics and the Institute

Job Duty 9 - Liaison with other entities across the Institute and affiliates with shared platforms, vendor contracts, and information technology

Job Duty 10 - Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience

Five or more years of job-related experience in a philanthropic role consisting of any combination of donor relations, gift administration, and events

Proposed Salary

Salary Range: $99,598-$127,000

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES

o The job requires occasional travel up to 10% or more of the time

o Ability to think strategically, and communicate clearly and effectively

o Proven ability to manage or articulate a sound knowledge base of philanthropic operations and all

related functions

KNOWLEDGE

o An understanding of higher education philanthropic operations, specifically college athletics

o Experience in gift administration, project management, scorecard development utilizing Microsoft

office products

o Familiarity and working knowledge of philanthropic database systems, including but not limited to

Blackbaud, Salesforce, as well as ticketing systems of Ticketmaster and Paciolian

SKILLS

o Working knowledge of Adobe suite products

o Demonstrated skills with Microsoft office suite

o Excellent interpersonal relationship development
