The Associate Actuary, SPA RX will be mainly responsible for supporting the pricing work related to our standalone Prescription Drug Plans (PDPs). This includes both bid development and reforecasts throughout the year. In addition, this position will also include various other ad hoc assignments related to Medicare Part D forecasting, pricing, and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • The Associate Actuary role in this position will include the following main responsibilities:

  • Working with various departments and groups to develop and document the pricing assumptions used in preparation of PDP bids and Supporting Documentation

  • Preparing the PDP bids and Supporting Documentation for the initial and all subsequent submissions

  • Owning the enrollment projection process to provide membership estimates for bids and forecasts

  • Quantifying and reporting impacts of assumption changes between forecasts

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Associate of Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation

  • Meets eligibility requirements for Humana's Actuarial Professional Development Program (APDP)

  • MAAA

  • Strong communication

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three or more years of Medicare experience

  • SAS beginner level or higher

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong analytical skills

Researches and understands competitors in marketplace and collaborates with sales and other partners supporting the markets to develop strategies for profitable membership growth. Accountable for actuarial certifications on rate filings, including attesting to compliance with state and federal rating and benefit regulations. Begins to influence department's strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.
