As our Associate Account Manager, you will work with our customers to maintain exemplary service for the life of their account. You are responsible for implementing and servicing the large employer segment building customer loyalty, satisfaction, and renewal / retention.

What you'll do...

  • Establish, cultivate and manage the customer relationship at multiple levels, serving as a healthcare consultant and trusted business advisor
  • Build relationships with consultants and brokers, recognizing the value they bring to our customers
  • Create the strategic retention and growth plan for each assigned customer; successfully manage upsells of new product lines and renewals of current clients
  • Effectively plan, negotiate and influence the interactions and relationships with customers, their brokers / consultants and internal team members to achieve strategic account goals
  • Responsible for value delivery to customer including plan performance, account management and service results
  • Meet with customers quarterly or more often as necessary
  • Create and clearly articulate the value story, trend drivers and tracking of solutions performance to the customer
  • Prepare, host and follow-up an annual planning session with the customer
  • Closely collaborate with Account Directors as warranted


About you...

  • 3-5 years of strategic and consultative selling experience within the insurance industry
  • Bachelors degree
  • Proven track record of over working with senior-level executives for client relationship management and consultation within health care benefits segment\
  • Excellent negotiation, collaboration, and listening skills
  • Excellent messaging, positioning and presentation of information for customer impact
  • Strong work management skills - identify a goal and the steps needed; actively manage action steps to accomplish goal
  • Strong business and financial acumen; strong problem-solving, judgment and analytic skills

Frequently meets with agents/brokers and insureds in order to build and maintain business relationships. With an increased level of independence, uses a consultative sales approach to market products to agents and brokers. Identifies and captures new business opportunities for the department and effectively cross sells Travelers products/services across the enterprise. Develops agency sales/business plan and frequently partners with Managing Director to develop region/group sales plan. With an increased level of independence, develops and executes on a plan to meet business objectives. Anticipates and identifies complex underwriting/marketing problems, thoroughly analyzes available information and makes timely, practical decisions. Fosters collaboration within the business unit and across the enterprise to seek solutions in solving business challenges. Other duties as assigned. Marketing and underwriting responsibilities typically include: Underwriting new and renewal business on large, complex accounts as well as marketing to and developing relationships with agents and brokers in the New York Metro region. Will collaborate with other business units as appropriate to support market penetration objectives and seek out cross-sell opportunities. While the underwriter in this job does not manage others, the individual will assist with developing and mentoring other team members. Education, Work Experience & Knowledge Bachelor degree preferred. In some lines of business, relevant agent/broker experience may be appropriate. Typically has 6-8 years of relevant Account Executive experience. Previous national account underwriting experience preferred. Industry/Business Knowledge: Understands industry business operations and work methods, critical business issues and financial drivers that affect the region and local office. Demonstrates an understanding of the local insurance marketplace and effectively uses that knowledge to the Company's advantage; continuously seeks out local market insight; is routinely sought out by others as a knowledge resource; coaches / mentors less experienced employees on an ongoing basis. Product Knowledge: Understands organizational and regulatory rules, policies and procedures and effectively employs that knowledge in day-to-day work activities.
