Associate Account Executive

E.W. Scripps, a premier media organization is seeking a high-energy, multi-tasking Associate Account Executive to join our Sales team. The successful candidate will have some sales experience. You would be assisting and gaining working knowledge of the various departments within the sales department.

Phase I - You will gain a working knowledge and be trained in the performance of the following types of duties:

  • Local Sales Handle airtime sales to advertising agencies and direct clients; process orders into station systems and generate contracts; schedule paid programming; resolve airtime scheduling problems such as revisions; make goods, preemptions, discrepancies and cancellations

  • Research/Marketing Prepare analysis of market program audiences and estimates; assist sales in marketing initiatives; create sales campaigns and presentations; work with Nielsen ratings/products; learn use of ABC network systems

  • Traffic Input local copy instructions and orders; manipulate inventory and commercial placement; formatting of daily logs

  • Digital Gain understanding of multi-platform media such as online media, mobile and digital sales

Phase II - In the remaining months of the program, you will work with the account executives to become fully immersed in your role as a sales professional. Responsibilities will include:

  • Perform client services including but not limited to avail presentations, package preparation, copy writing, credit applications, collections, etc

  • Create non-traditional revenue opportunities, coordinating production efforts for new clients and executing post-buy analyses of broadcast and digital schedules

  • Obtain commercial material to be used by Traffic for on-air schedules

  • Develop new business for multiple platforms (such as on-air, mobile, online, digital) and utilize research to position the station as a premiere marketing vehicle

  • Perform other duties as assigned


College degree in Communications or Marketing preferred.

Skills & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications

  • Self-motivated, creative and strong people skills

  • Detail-oriented with excellent written and oral communication/presentation skills

  • Ability to work within a team framework are required

  • Driving required. Valid Driver's License, good driving record and ability to provide proof of insurability with company required insurance limits

Develops partner relationship and deep understanding of partner business, using Meta and industry knowledge to collaborate and drive growth and retention efforts. This includes P&L responsibilities, strategy development, managing the Partner relationships, working collaboratively with product management, operations, IT, legal, compliance, risk, finance and other relevant cross-functional partners, holding them accountable for their support of market growth, quality assurance and overall success of the Partner relationships. Essential Job Functions: * Develops the individual Partner relationships and ensures goals, strategies and objectives are in place to support the execution of all Partner and Meta plans. * Creates Partner-specific strategic account plans which align with overall revenue/gross margin and Meta corporate strategy goals. * Champions partners business development initiatives within Meta. * Identifies and drives new product opportunities within Meta, with and for Partner. * Monitors and assesses trends, problem areas, understands Partners unique needs, providing them with feedback on Metas performance and theirs, keeping them current in all facets of Metas business and keeping lines of communication with Partners open at all times. * Has a deep understanding of MetaBank strategy, policies, products, systems and processes and works within these to further growth and development of Partner business with Meta. Appropriately challenges these standards when necessary to further the growth and development of Partner business. * Has a deep understanding of all Partners business, key decision makers and influencers, trends in the industry, as well as their competition. Consults regularly with Partner on these topics. * Holds regular face-to-face meetings with senior level executives to continue to build relationship, strategize about objectives and ensure alignment between Partner and Meta. * Review and execute complex contracts including negotiation of pricing and legal terms. * Position requires an overall understanding of Compliance, BSA, credit, info security, operational, reputational and strategic risks to inform business decisions that are mutually beneficial to the bank and the partner. * On call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and responds appropriately to ensure Meta support groups respond and react accordingly. * Required to carry a cell phone and travel to partner site(s) as necessary. * Aligns partner needs with internal solutions. Appropriately challenges status quo to ensure Meta continues to develop solutions to ensure retention and enable growth of Partner business with Meta. * Has an intimate knowledge of Partner agreements, programs, pricing strategies, marketing approaches and providing accurate and timely reporting of information and strong relationship building skills are all keys to success in this role. * Engages Meta senior management across the organization as appropriate to assist with reaching partner objectives and account plans. * Provides coaching, mentoring, and support at every level within the Partner-specific teams as needed.
