  • JOB SUMMARY

  • Drives fundraising strategy and leads Development efforts for Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network and Good Shepherd Penn Partners, promoting the organization's mission, vision and core values to prospective donors and community. Strategy includes managing an established fundraising team in growing annual revenue plan of $10M target as well as continued development and execution of a multi-year $15M Capital Campaign for a new inpatient rehabilitation hospital. Oversees a staff of approximately 12 that support Institutional Advancement functions, including development, government relations, volunteer services and community support.

  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • SUPPORTS ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS

  • By developing and implementing departmental plan to meet all fundraising objectives in support of organizational need.

  • By collaborating with the Capital Campaign Manager to drive a successful capital campaign.

  • By working collaboratively with the President & CEO and Vice President, Communications, Development and Marketing to align departmental goals with organizational needs and priorities.

  • MANAGES AND MOTIVATES FUNDRAISING STAFF IN ORDER TO ACCOMPLISH DEPARTMENTAL AND INDIVIDUAL GOALS

  • By managing staff of approximately 12.

  • By setting, tracking and reporting on cascading departmental and individual goals.

  • By monitoring the status of revenue areas and reporting progress against departmental goals.

  • DEVELOPS, ORGANIZES, EXECUTES AND GUIDES THE ANNUAL FUNDRAISING PLAN

  • By providing direction and management of the overall Development program.

  • By creating a plan to grow the major and planned giving programs.

  • By developing plans and strategies for solicitation of gifts for high level donors, key volunteers and staff, as appropriate and in conjunction with gift officers on staff.

  • By increasing engagement and revenue from special events.

  • By overseeing corporate and foundation giving.

  • By developing a content strategy for year round communication and solicitation of donors through a robust direct mail, email and overall communication program.

  • By setting objectives, targeting supporters, developing approaches and making solicitations.

  • WORKS CLOSELY WITH ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP AND THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

  • By driving agendas and leading Development Advisory Board meetings.

  • By liaising with senior leaders, department heads and project leads to identify their needs, strategize and align resources.

  • By leveraging key leaders within the administration and Board, where appropriate, to help advance overall fundraising efforts and the capital campaign.

  • REPRESENTS THE ORGANIZATION

  • By representing the organization at community events and maintaining a positive public image with all constituents.

  • By working closely with the Director of Government and Community Relations to engage with government officials and other key stakeholders.

  • By accepting occasional speaking engagements to share information about Good Shepherd.

  • By interacting with various constituencies to ensure overall support for organization's fundraising efforts.

  • OVERSEES ANNUAL MAJOR AND PLANNED GIVING PROGRAMS

  • By acting as a gift officer for high level donors and prospects, maintaining a case load of at least 50 prospects and developing a clear solicitation strategy to support the campaign and overall fundraising goals.

  • OVERSEES GRANT SEEKING INCLUDING RESEARCH, PROPOSAL WRITING AND REPORTING

  • By providing overall direction and strategy for grant seeking.

  • By providing support to the grant writer, reviewing proposals and helping to identify and cultivate existing relationships with foundations.

  • By reviewing past records, researching support given to other organizations, identifying grant making agencies and foundations and establishing personal networks.

  • OVERSEES COMMUNICATION STRATEGY TO SUPPORT FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES

  • By collaborating with the VP of Marketing and Communications to align branding, messaging and strategy.

  • By providing support to staff who prepare direct mail and electronic appeals, invitations, promotional letters, acknowledgement letters and presentations.

  • MAINTAINS PROFESSIONAL AND TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

  • By attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional activities.

  • OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

  • Education

  • Bachelor's Degree required

  • Master's Degree preferred

  • Work Experience

  • 7-10 years of Development experience, including experience managing a team.

  • Previous capital campaign experience required.

  • Previous health-care experience preferred.

  • Licenses / Certifications

  • Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation preferred
