Supports excellence in Nursing care for Stroke patients. Works with the Medical Director of the Stroke Center and others to maintain Quality Measures, NIHSS reliability, and stroke certification. Provides education to patients and or family members. Identifies and conducts supplemental hospital staff special education as needed.

The Associate RN Stroke Coordinator responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Reviews patient charts for completeness and accuracy of Performance Measures, Process Improvement, and NIHSS on a regular basis. Provides real-time education for nursing staff when issues are identified.
Provides clinical stroke education for advanced topics not provided by clinical education department
Oversees and conducts stroke education for patient and family members.
Presents a minimum of one educational course for internal or external staff per year.
Helps maintain Stroke Center Certification.
Conducts follow-up phone calls to patient after discharge.
Reports to the Director Metro Neurosciences and designated Administrative Director

Bachelors degree in Nursing.
Valid and Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Oklahoma or current multistate license from a Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) member state.
1 year of clinical nursing experience. Experience in ED/ICU neurological nursing preferred.
National Stroke Certification required within 24 months of hire.
Previous work experience utilizing Microsoft Office and other electronic medical record systems.
Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbal/written).
