A Day in the Life
Initiate, lead, conduct and support assigned chemistry projects under the supervision of more senior departmental personnel . This position requires the ability to conduct chemical evaluations in support of new or existing processes. Documentation of testing, results, and conclusions is expected.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING AND OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED:
Performs chemical evaluations of new and existing products and processes.
Prepares samples and performs testing utilizing various laboratory instruments including the gas chromatographs, FTIR spectrometer, UV/Visible spectrophotometer, and Karl Fischer moisture titrators.
Drafts protocols and reports of low complexity.
Remains abreast of chemical applications to include changes/enhancements in laboratory technology, and industry standards.
Performs specific technical or project tasks by following specific, detailed instructions and established procedures.
With supervision, manages the development of appropriate testing to verify product meets internal and external customer requirements
Assist in the monitoring of the Hazardous Waste streams, MSDS books and container labeling system.
Problem solving is guided by well established policies, procedures and or precedent.
Recognizes common and generally routine problems of low complexity when they occur.
Uses standard techniques, theories and tools to identify and develop solutions to basic technical problems of low complexity.
May provide training and guidance to less experienced team members.
Adheres to safety policy procedures.
Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.
Continue to develop skills through additional training and educational programs
Assist other areas of technical services department as needed.
MUST HAVE: MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's plus some relevant experience. Education in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related scientific discipline required. Medical device experience strongly preferred.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
2+ years of IT experience with a Bachelors Degree
Some IT experience with a Masters Degree
4+ years of IT experience with a Bachelors Degree
2+ years of IT experience with a Masters Degree
7+ years of IT experience with a Bachelors Degree
5+ years of IT experience with a Masters Degree
SR PRINCIPAL LEVEL:
10+ years of IT experience with a Bachelors Degree
8+ years of IT experience with a Masters Degree
SPECIALIZED SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE:
Basic understanding of technical principles, theories, and techniques.
Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
Thorough knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and computer software skills
Ability to compile and organize technical data using Excel, Word, or Access.
Working knowledge of laboratory safety precautions and protocols for safe handling and the disposal of hazardous agents, re-agents, chemicals and materials.
Strong knowledge of chemistry, mathematics and computers.
Working knowledge of spectroscopic techniques.
