Earned entry-level occupational therapy degree from an accredited program.
Earned doctoral degree in occupational therapy or a related field from a US accredited college or university.
Current certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
Current license or eligible for license to practice in the state of North Carolina.
Eight (8) years of experience in clinical practice as an occupational therapist. This experience should include:
Clinical practice experience as an occupational therapist.
Administrative experience including, but not limited to, program planning and implementation, personnel management, evaluation, and budgeting.
Scholarship (e.g., scholarship of application, scholarship of teaching and learning).
Understanding the role of the occupational therapy assistant.
4 years of experience as a faculty member with teaching responsibilities at the postsecondary level with responsibilities that include teaching and managing learning experiences, evaluating student achievement, providing input into curriculum development.

The purpose of the Department of Occupational Therapy is to educate occupational therapy practitioners to interpret the relationship of person, environment and occupation to the health and well-being of individuals and populations in order to enable participation in meaningful occupations in everyday life activities. The Master of Science of Occupational Therapy's mission is to prepare highly trained and culturally affirming leaders in the field of occupational therapy, who are uniquely equipped to meet the diverse needs of the immediate area and the profession as a whole. The OT Department Chair will provide guidance, vision, and stewardship of the department's programs and activities to shape the direction of College of Health Sciences (CHS) and contribute to its success. The Department Chair supports the mission of CHS and the university by promoting high quality educational programs, scholarship, as well as professional, community, and university service. The position includes direct administration and management as the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy program director which includes the implementation, management, and administration of the MSOT program, including planning, development, delivery, evaluation, budgeting, and faculty and staff, maintenance of accreditation, and commitment to strategies for professional development. The position includes teaching graduate level occupational therapy courses in the applicant's area of expertise.

Management Preference
Previous experience as a program director, assistant director, academic fieldwork coordinator, or capstone coordinator
Demonstrated understanding of clinical practice and partnerships of both OT and OTA
Record of experience in administration, including financial and personnel management.
Demonstrated success in leadership and mentoring
Experience in policy and procedure formulation, and evaluation of program effectiveness.
Knowledge of education and administration as well as current ACOTE standards and procedures relevant to the program
Lic or Certification required by statute or regulation
Current certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy
