The Associate Head Coach assists the Head Basketball Coach in the conduct of the women's intercollegiate basketball program. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, recruiting coordinator, retention, academic and personal development of the student athletes, director of player development, facilitating the physical training and skill development of the student athletes, and filling in for the head coach when necessary. The Associate Head Coach is expected to have knowledge of and abide by the philosophy, rules and regulations of Pace University, Northeast- 10 Conference and the NCAA.

Position Duties

  • Assists the Head Basketball Coach in the conduct of the women's intercollegiate basketball program.

  • Maintains up to date knowledge and understanding of the rules and regulations for the NCAA, Northeast -10, and Pace University.

  • Responsible for day to day recruiting operations.

  • Facilitates physical training and skill development of student athletes.

  • Supports academic, personal development, and retention of student athletes.

  • Assists in the organization of practice, team travel, and preparation of contests.

  • Fills in for the Head Coach when necessary.

  • Assists the Head Coach in creating a positive environment for student athletes.

  • Assists the Head Coach and Compliance Coordinator in maintaining accurate academic, recruiting, and financial aid records.

  • Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, this position has been designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). CSAs are individuals at the University who, because of their function at the University, have an obligation under the Clery Act to notify the University of alleged Clery Crimes that are reported to them in good faith, or alleged Clery Crimes that they may personally witness. CSAs will be required to complete training with respect to the Clery Act and the responsibilities of a CSA.

Work study trainers and managers.

Work Hours

This is a full-time position; exact schedule to be determined with supervisor based on the game and practice schedule for the team. Must be flexible as to work schedule. Some early mornings, late evenings, weekends and holiday work will be required.

Must be flexible with regular working schedule. Intercollegiate competitions can occur daily, including weekends and holidays and at different hours of the day. Some days may have multiple competitions on campus and at different times of the day or evening. Conference and non conference travel can be US wide. Conference travel is mostly to Northeast 10 Conference members (NY, CT, MA, VT, NH). Other non conference travel required to NJ, PA, RI, ME, VA, FL, CA, OH, IL, IA, NC, SC, WV, DE, MD, GA, FL, WV.

  • Bachelors degree required , master's preferred.

  • At least five years of college coaching experience.

  • Head coaching and High School or Club experience.

  • At least two years of experience in media relations/sport information with supervisor experience preferred.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office.

  • Experience with media relations and game day operations for football, Sidearm Sports website content management, video production such Production Truck/Blue Frame, various stat inputting platforms including stat crew, Prestosports and NCAA Live stats preferred.

  • Working knowledge and use of computer hardware and software specifically required for NCAA Division 2 sports and for posting stories on various social media sites.

  • NY State Drivers License required.

  • Must be CPR/AED certified or the ability to obtain certification.

  • Physical activity required.
