The Survivability Discipline Group (SDG) is hiring a manager for its Field & Manufacturing Support team. SDG is part of the Engine Design and System Integration (EDSI) Military Engines group at Pratt & Whitney. The SDG team works with internal and external customers to develop next generation military aircraft propulsion systems capable of meeting survivability requirements through the design, analysis, verification, production, and field support stages of a program. As the Manager of the SDG Field & Manufacturing Support team, you will lead a group of technical experts and innovators to drive the successful execution of program deliverables, develop advanced materials and test systems, resolve production and flight line issues, and evaluate fielded engines (often on the customer's flight line) to help focus efforts to reduce life cycle cost. This management role directly leads an onsite team of 14 engineers and technicians supporting the continued operation of 5th Gen aircraft around the world such as the F119 (powering the F22) and the F135 (powering the F35). This highly visible role interfaces with internal and external customers including program managers, chief engineers, chief system engineers, materials and process engineering, production personnel, hardware CIPTs/IPTs, and the sustainment community to ensure system survivability requirements are met. The role also includes military program proposal support, project baselining and project management.
The position reports directly to the Survivability Director, and interfaces with other SDG managers (IR analysis, RCS analysis, Vulnerability analysis, Survivability Integration, & WPB Test Ops) to ensure appropriate manpower coverage for active programs.
A candidate with strong leadership skills, an ability to develop employees, and a willingness to productively collaborate across organizational boundaries is desired.
The ability to set a vision, communicate effectively, and to influence resources across the enterprise is critical.
Strong technical skills, an ability to develop and present material to cross-functional teams, prior program or engineering leadership; and excellent customer relationship skills are highly desired.
University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years experience.
Prior experience with development, production, or field support of aerospace products.
Familiarity with proposal and project management tools (EV, IMS, BoEs, etc.).
Prior experience in aircraft survivability management or related aircraft propulsion systems design and integration work.
US Citizenship required due to government contracts.
US Person Status required due to government contracts.
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations .
6+ years of experience in aircraft survivability management or related aircraft propulsion systems design and integration work.
3+ years of experience working directly with external military customers and Program Management Office.
Prior experience managing direct reports.
3+ years' experience with EV/IMS/Proposal development.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and foster positive relationships.
Excellent Judgment and professional maturity.
Active security clearance strongly preferred.
