Job Description:

Partnering with senior management and related HR staff, this role provides OD consulting, leadership development and talent management solutions to increase the effectiveness of Biogen's PO&T organization and EU HR Leadership team, with an emphasis to address broad organizational and talent challenges.

Key Responsibilities include:

OD/Change Management (75%)

  • Develop the roadmap for building functional excellence and business capability building within the client organization;

  • Work directly with the PO&T executive team and EU HR leadership team to improve effectiveness and efficiency around alignment, direction setting, decision making and communication in the function and region

  • Drive transformation of Biogen's culture through change management processes and tools resulting in a better aligned culture to meet Biogen's current business challenges;

  • Rely on analytics to understand solution success and inform future delivery; such as translating the

insights from organization and employee surveys into actions that have a significant impact on the unit's performance and culture.

  • Design wholistic workforce strategy and plan to drive objectives and desired outcomes of the business short-term, mid-term, and long-term

  • Building solutions that are both fit for purpose, and scalable or able to be used by multiple functions (leveraging existing interventions, partnering with the Center to build broader solutions).

  • Helping to design field-ready items, and assure strong after-action reviews aligned with continuous improvement objectives

  • Partnering with HR Manager to ensure people processes are implemented consistently across the company, and are achieving their desired intent

  • Facilitating and leading with the business key organizational redesign and restructuring efforts; ensuring a whole systems approach is taken to enable and sustain the change effort

Leadership Development and Talent Management (25%)

  • Contribute to the design, development and promotion of leadership development programs, processes, systems and tools and implement these on a local level. Programs, processes, systems and tools include:

  • Drive end to end Talent management approach and philosophy (e.g. succession planning)

  • Performance planning and assessment

  • Individual development plans for HiPo Talent

  • Work closely with executives to identify and support high potential talent.

  • Consult and collaborate with HR Business Partners, colleagues in OE, and key senior managers to ensure leadership capability is in place to allow functions/units to meet their critical business needs and attain their objectives.


Specific qualities and experience for the position include:

  • Ability to build effective working relationships with a diverse "customer" base, including senior

managers, HR Business Partners, consultants, etc.;

  • Results-oriented approach with a commitment to quality and performance, and track record of driving

impact and change within a complex, matrixed organization;

Prior business/ line management and/or business consulting experience helpful but not required Proven ability to balance the need for global consistency with local customization;

  • Business maturity and interpersonal "savvy" to work with both senior managers and line employees;

  • Proven ability to achieve results by working with a global team;

  • Personal drive and tenacity, embracing difficult and/or complex tasks with enthusiasm and continued


  • Experience working on employer of choice and/or inclusion initiatives considered a plus.
  • a 'One HR' mindset, dedicated to continuous improvement and transparent feedback


An undergraduate degree is required; an advanced degree in Management or a related field is preferred.

This will include: disease, product, and stakeholder interaction capabilities training, as well as other trainings for the Commercial Team. The Senior Manager of Commercial Training and Effectiveness will have responsibility for on-the-ground execution and deployment of training experiences in the US and Europe. About the Role: * Assist in the development and execution of comprehensive strategic and tactical plans to support the short- and long-term objectives of the Sales, Marketing, Patient Services, and Access and Value Teams. This includes responsibility for implementation and continuous improvement to the following work streams: * New hire training programs and curriculum * Continuing education with ongoing learning programs * Advanced training for ongoing learning of product and disease knowledge and stakeholder interaction capabilities * Assist in the definition and development of core competencies and create tools, curriculum and initiatives to support them. * Assist in the development of field-based training programs including field coaching, and field assessment. * Responsible for the development of classroom training programs including stakeholder interaction capabilities as well as disease and product education via live training experiences, e-learning modules, WebEx, etc. * Establish and implement key metrics to track and communicate level of value and impact of sales training and development initiatives to all stakeholders. * Work closely with Sales and Marketing to ensure appropriate integration of sales and marketing materials into all new hire and ongoing learning training programs * Manage, design and deliver sales training materials for all commercial meetings in close coordination with Sales, Marketing and Human Resources. * Select, develop, and manage relationships with key agency partners * Provide a high level of strategic analysis and planning with the ability to work with and manage demands and expectations from multiple internal customers Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in life science required, advanced business or science degree preferred * Ideal candidate will have 5 years of relevant pharmaceutical/biotech experience, with at least 3 years leading national home-office based training for field force and field effectiveness coaching * Experience is rare disease is preferred * Demonstrated excellence in project management and organizational leadership tp effectively manage multiple projects/priorities including budgeting and actual spend again budget is required. * Launch experience preferred, US & EU experience preferred * Intense curiosity, collaborative spirit, empathy, and pension for problem solving * Solutions-oriented, strong analytical and presentation skills * Ability to champion change and drive innovative thinking * Ability to lead and challenge others in a fast-paced, highly-matrixed work environment * Ensure that all training programs are consistent with, and supporting of, company legal, regulatory and compliance guidelines * Embody, the principles of bluebird bio culture: b colorful, b cooperative, and b yourself * This position is based in Cambridge with 30-40% travel to the EU.
