Manages the Global Contracts Management team and activities which support execution of procedures relating to the budgeting, preparation, and management of contract and change order documents and any other associated duties as assigned. Assists with the development of policy and processes that optimize the implementation and maintenance of contracting processes and systems.

Provides training and supervises contracts team. Serves as backup for Director, Global Contracts Management as needed.

Essential Functions:
1.Line management responsibilities for individual contributors as well as functional teams responsible for specific lines of business including professional development, performance appraisals, employee counseling for junior and management staff, rewarding and disciplining. Assigns project work and reviews workload for all direct reports. Manages staff by establishing goals that will increase knowledge and skill level, and by delegating tasks commensurate with skill level. Constantly remains proactive with management of staff to ensure internal and external Customer expectations and deadlines are met.
2.Drives the contract and change order process and remains proactive to ensure timely execution and revenue recognition. Ensures that direct reports are meeting standard turnaround and cycle times. Alerts senior management to potential issues with contracts and change orders as necessary corrective action is taken.
3.Continuously implement improvements to the processes and systems and put into practice.
4.Reviews contracts and change orders for direct reports to ensure completeness and accuracy, and that corrections are appropriately made and documented.
5.Participates in the selection and on-boarding process for new Global Contracts Management staff by conducting candidate review and participating in the interview process. Ensures staff have the appropriate materials, systems access, and training to complete job responsibilities.
6.Takes a proactive role in developing relationships with appropriate staff in preferred customer organizations in close collaboration with Business Development.
7.Provides advice, support, and guidance to direct reports as needed and serve as a mentor to colleagues.
8.Prepares information for and leads internal meetings with direct reports.
9.Presents to Executive Management the status of contract and change orders directly impacting revenue.
10. Acts as direct reports' primary liaison for Legal, Finance, and Operational escalations facilitating accurate and efficient adjudication of escalated matters.
11. Participates in company initiatives on behalf of the department.
12. Supports the Director, Global Contracts Management or designee with the development and implementation of training processes and procedures including the maintenance and creation of all relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), and Business Practices (BPs).

Other Responsibilities:

Performs other work-related duties as assigned. Minimal travel may be required (up to 25%). Represents Company at professional meetings or seminars.


B.A./B.S. preferably in business or life sciences, moderate contracts management experience and line management experience for multiple teams or work groups, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced

degree is preferred.

Experience in a contract research organization or the pharmaceutical industry.

Demonstrated leadership skills.

Superior, analytical, negotiation, and organization skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written.

Excellent presentation as well as strong team-orientation and interpersonal skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with excellent organizational skills and high levels of integrity.

Must be customer focused and able to manage challenging priorities and remain flexible and adaptable in stressful situations.

Excellent knowledge of contract and legal contracting parameters and budget preparation and the ability to interpret budgets.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers and customers.

Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Sets standards of reporting on actuals, forecasts and backlog that meet and exceed the financial reporting requirements and business needs of the therapeutic area globally. Functionally or directly supervises a team of finance professionals who partner and support the therapeutic areas to achieve and exceed their financial targets. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES * If assigned, oversees management and direction of assigned accounting personnel. Approves course of action on all management/human resources' matters, including employment hires, transfers, terminations, promotions, performance appraisals and professional development, job descriptions and employee evaluation, training, counseling and discipline of direct staff members. * Recommends, develops, and maintains INCR revenue recognition principals, policy, processes, systems, practices, controls and procedures that are compliant with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) associated with gross, net and deferred revenue activities. Recommends proper GAAP accounting on new contracts as needed. * Records and reports project revenues for each contract type in accordance and compliant with GAAP and the Revenue recognition policy. Ensures full compliance with monthly accounting close schedule. Develops and improves unbilled and deferred revenue accounting and reporting. * Works closely with and takes global ownership for therapeutic areas to ensure revenue recognition policies are being followed consistently. Globally, communicates new control processes and provides recommendations on implementation. Works closely with and takes global ownership for therapeutic areas around project close-out and project tracker balances to ensure the latest project financial profile properly reflects the financial position of the project at month end. * Performs quarterly review of the company's financial applications and documents processes and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP, and corporate policy. * Develops reviews and approves proposals, change orders and contract payment milestone terms that support corporate profit and liquidity targets. * Reviews, reports and summarizes project results and metrics at the project and executive level on a monthly basis. Recommends actions to executive management and relevant project management whose business and/or individual project risk under perform budgeted goals. * Ensures backlog reporting is current, to reflect consistent, accurate and timely data with any significant variances explained. Reports results in an executive summary to include changes from prior reports, and highlight significant changes. * Ensures reporting activities not only meet but exceed the companies requirement to expedite critical decisions for the business * Requires a bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field or equivalent education and experience plus extensive, progressive financial experience. * Demonstrated leadership skills essential with one (1) year direct management experience preferred. * Strong computer skills utilizing Word; Excel, Lotus Notes, MAS90 or related accounting packages required, with Oracle experience preferred. * Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment is essential. * Requires effective presentation, documentation, leadership and interpersonal skills with a team-oriented approach.
