Manages the Global Contracts Management team and activities which support execution of procedures relating to the budgeting, preparation, and management of contract and change order documents and any other associated duties as assigned. Assists with the development of policy and processes that optimize the implementation and maintenance of contracting processes and systems.
Provides training and supervises contracts team. Serves as backup for Director, Global Contracts Management as needed.
1.Line management responsibilities for individual contributors as well as functional teams responsible for specific lines of business including professional development, performance appraisals, employee counseling for junior and management staff, rewarding and disciplining. Assigns project work and reviews workload for all direct reports. Manages staff by establishing goals that will increase knowledge and skill level, and by delegating tasks commensurate with skill level. Constantly remains proactive with management of staff to ensure internal and external Customer expectations and deadlines are met.
2.Drives the contract and change order process and remains proactive to ensure timely execution and revenue recognition. Ensures that direct reports are meeting standard turnaround and cycle times. Alerts senior management to potential issues with contracts and change orders as necessary corrective action is taken.
3.Continuously implement improvements to the processes and systems and put into practice.
4.Reviews contracts and change orders for direct reports to ensure completeness and accuracy, and that corrections are appropriately made and documented.
5.Participates in the selection and on-boarding process for new Global Contracts Management staff by conducting candidate review and participating in the interview process. Ensures staff have the appropriate materials, systems access, and training to complete job responsibilities.
6.Takes a proactive role in developing relationships with appropriate staff in preferred customer organizations in close collaboration with Business Development.
7.Provides advice, support, and guidance to direct reports as needed and serve as a mentor to colleagues.
8.Prepares information for and leads internal meetings with direct reports.
9.Presents to Executive Management the status of contract and change orders directly impacting revenue.
10. Acts as direct reports' primary liaison for Legal, Finance, and Operational escalations facilitating accurate and efficient adjudication of escalated matters.
11. Participates in company initiatives on behalf of the department.
12. Supports the Director, Global Contracts Management or designee with the development and implementation of training processes and procedures including the maintenance and creation of all relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), and Business Practices (BPs).
Performs other work-related duties as assigned. Minimal travel may be required (up to 25%). Represents Company at professional meetings or seminars.
B.A./B.S. preferably in business or life sciences, moderate contracts management experience and line management experience for multiple teams or work groups, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced
degree is preferred.
Experience in a contract research organization or the pharmaceutical industry.
Demonstrated leadership skills.
Superior, analytical, negotiation, and organization skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written.
Excellent presentation as well as strong team-orientation and interpersonal skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with excellent organizational skills and high levels of integrity.
Must be customer focused and able to manage challenging priorities and remain flexible and adaptable in stressful situations.
Excellent knowledge of contract and legal contracting parameters and budget preparation and the ability to interpret budgets.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers and customers.
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
