The Associate Director for the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) program plays a pivotal role in supporting underrepresented first-generation nursing students within the College of Health Professions. This Associate Director position operates under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI) of the grant, with dotted-line supervision to the Project Coordinator. The Associate Director will engage with students throughout the semester, providing guidance, resources, and support to help them succeed academically and personally. Additionally, they will oversee the Peer Mentoring program, manage student-focused events, and play a significant role in coordinating the summer immersion program.

Position Duties

  • Act as a primary point of contact for nursing students enrolled in the HRSA Scholars Program.

  • Provide personalized support and guidance to students, helping them navigate university resources addressing academic and personal challenges.

  • Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes student success and well-being.

  • Manage the Peer Mentoring program, including recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of peer mentors.

  • Develop and implement mentorship training programs to ensure peer mentors are equipped to support their mentees effectively.

  • Evaluate and assess the effectiveness of the Peer Mentoring program, implementing improvements as needed.

  • Collaborate with university stakeholders to plan and execute student-focused events that promote wellness, academic skills, and equity initiatives.

  • Coordinate logistics, secure resources, and facilitate communication to ensure the success of events and initiatives.

  • Play a significant role in the planning, organization, and execution of the summer immersion program for incoming students.

  • Coordinate with faculty, staff, and external partners to develop curriculum, secure resources, and provide support during the program.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the summer immersion program and implement enhancements for future iterations.

  • Maintain accurate records of student interactions, program activities, and outcomes.

  • Prepare reports and documentation required for grant reporting and compliance.

  • Collaborate with the Project Coordinator and PI to ensure the efficient operation of the HRSA Program.

  • Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required; Master's degree in higher education, counseling, or similar preferred.

  • Experience working with diverse student populations, particularly first-generation undergraduate students.

  • Knowledge of student development theory, mentoring best practices, and equity initiatives in higher education.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with students, staff, and faculty.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.

Work Hours

28 hours per week. Generally between Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
