DESCRIPTION: The Assistive Technology Coordinator will oversee the provision of assistive technology to students with disabilities for the Georgia Cyber Academy

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Assistive Technology Coordinator will

  • be a certified and experienced as a teacher of special education or other specialized services provider

  • Advance training or certification in Assistive Technology preferred.

  • have demonstrated leadership skills.

  • conducted training in the area of assistive technology

  • demonstrates effective interpersonal skills and outstanding written and verbal skills.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with Special Programs Leadership and special education teachers regarding the AT referral process

  • Conduct Assistive Technology evaluations

  • Coordinate Assistive Technology evaluations/services by outside providers

  • Maintain inventory of current devices/software/equipment

  • Coordinate any maintenance/support of AT devices/software/equipment

  • Coordinate ordering of technology for Special Programs department.

  • Set up devices/equipment and install software based on assessments and student needs.

  • Train students, staff and parents on assistive technology equipment.

  • Coordinate assistive technology and generally available technology services with GCA technology coordinator.

  • Provide follow-up services and trainings for students who have assistive technology needs.

  • Attend special programs department meetings.

  • Coordinate and provide training for special educators in technology as directed by district goals and local administrators.

  • Stay current with changing and emerging technologies.

  • Stay current with educational practices in universal design for learning with technology.

  • Other duties as assigned

RequirementsRequirements:

  • Exceptionally strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Experienced in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and able to learn specific student management system(s) such as SEAS

  • Prior experience in or knowledge of special education.

VIEW JOBS 12/4/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-04T00:00 Title: Assistive Technology Support Teacher Position Summary: * Provides direct service, instructional support, and training to stakeholders regarding assistive technology and instructional supports in the areas of academics, communication and physical access Duties and Responsibilities: * Collaborates to develop and deliver professional development regarding software and/or equipment for students with disabilities in the areas of learning, communication, physical access * Provides support for feature matching and selection of appropriate assistive technology to increase student independence * Serves as an assistive technology resource to students and teams with IEP or 504 plans * Supports and promotes the personalized learning initiative through identification and training of universal design for learning (UDL) features available on school supported devices * Merges current technology trends with assistive technology in the educational setting * Manages, organizes, and maintains equipment inventory and confidential student records * Manages, maintains and deploys devices apps and /or equipment * Participates in professional development to maintain and enhance skills * Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator Education and Experience: Education * Bachelor's degree required * Master's degree preferred Experience: * Minimum 3 years of experience using specialized software and/or assistive technology for students with disabilities is required * Experience instructing adults preferred Certification/Licensure: * Must hold a valid Georgia Special Education teaching certificate or licensure in occupational therapy or speech language pathology Minimum Qualifications: * Knowledgeable regarding the Georgia Performance Standards, norm and criterion referenced assessments including the Georgia Alternative Assessment and developmental skill sequences * Experience and knowledge of assistive technology for students with learning, communication, visual impairments/blindness, and physical disabilities preferred * Must possess a strong working knowledge of technology, computers, tablets, networks, and app deployment * Must possess technical expertise sufficient to troubleshoot technology and work with IT /vendors to solve issues * Ability to work independently * Experience with data collection and interpretation is preferred * Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing * Excellent organizational skills Salary Information: * Actual salary placement will be based on Fulton County Board of Education experience and education calculations from the Special Education Teacher Salary Schedule (SPED).
