Job Description:

  • Teach courses in the areas of Solid Design and Manufacturing and lower-division engineering science

  • Develop a scholarly research program incorporating undergraduates

  • Develop an externally funded research program

  • Work with the faculty of Mechanical Engineering to prepare for and retain ABET accreditation

  • Work with the faculty of Mechanical Engineering to develop a graduate program

  • Serve the College and community

  • Other reasonable duties as assigned.

Salary: Assistant - $85,000 - $92,500 / Associate - $92,500 - 102,500 / Full - $102,500 - $145,000

The above salary structures may vary depending on experience.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have an earned doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally accredited organization and have a record of outstanding academic and scholarly achievements. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to excellent teaching and a commitment to develop a vigorous externally funded research program. The candidate will be expected to teach courses in Mechanical Engineering (particularly in Machine Design, Design and Manufacturability, Kinematics and Mechanisms) and lower-division engineering sciences.

  • Preference will be given to candidates with research experience, teaching experience at the collegiate level and a strong background related to and capable of supporting SUNY Poly's emerging interests in manufacturing engineering, nanotechnology and the biological sciences. It would also be expected that the successful candidate's research interests would complement the interests of existing Mechanical Engineering faculty at SUNY Poly. Candidates should be able to support a breadth of disciplines within Mechanical Engineering.
