Position Summary:
The Master of Social Work Program invites applications for an annually renewable continuing appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor. This is a full-time faculty tenure track position commencing in August 2024. The successful candidate will have earned an MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited MSW Program and a doctoral degree in social work or a related field. The successful candidate will also have at least two years, post-MSW practice experience, experience in teaching and/or curriculum development in social work education, and demonstrated experience in ethically sound research and scholarship.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Teach and co-teach graduate courses in alignment with CSWE policies and standards
Participate in development of and periodic revisions of the social work curriculum
Advise and mentor a diverse population of students
Engage in service to the MSW Program, Wingate University, profession, and community
Conduct research leading to publication and/or securing external funding
Maintain consistent, high quality communication with faculty, staff, and students
Adhere to the general faculty guidelines as specified by Wingate University
Maintain regular and predictable attendance on campus
Adhere to policies and standards that actively support and advance Anti-Racism, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Perform other job duties/responsibilities as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
Ability to teach and co-teach graduate courses in social work
Ability to develop curriculum and materials relevant for CSWE accreditation
Proficiency in computer technology, including, but not limited to learning management systems, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office
Ability to conduct research leading to publications and/or secure external funding
Ability to maintain consistent, high quality communication with faculty, staff, and students
Ability to engage in service to the Master of Social Work Program, Wingate University, the profession, and the community
Ability to adhere to faculty guidelines as specified by Wingate University and develop a record of teaching, scholarship, and service necessary for tenure and promotion
Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance on campus
Ability to comply and collaboratively work towards the Wingate University mission, vision, and strategic road map
Ability to actively support and advance Anti-Racism, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Ability to perform other job duties and responsibilities as needed
Education and Experience:
MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited MSW Program
Doctoral degree (or ABD with an expected graduation by summer 2025) in social work or a related field.
Two years post-MSW social work practice experience
Experience in teaching and/or curriculum development in social work education
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Communication both verbally and in writing with colleagues, students, and community partners
Capacity to meet with colleagues in various settings across campus
Driving to and meeting with community partners in various settings in the county and region
