The Department of Economics (https://www.lsu.edu/business/economics/) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level to begin in Fall 2019. New and prospective PhDs, senior Assistant Professors, as well as Associate Professors are encouraged to apply.

Successful applicants must have a solid research record or promise for development of a strong research agenda. Candidates are sought with expertise in applied microeconomics fields listed above. The Department has a strong research orientation and offers B.A., B.S., M.S, and Ph.D. degrees in Economics.

Interviews will be held at the ASSA meetings in Atlanta in January. Junior candidates should have a Ph.D. in Economics by August 2019. LSU is an Equal opportunity/equal access employer.

Assistant Professor:

Ph.D. in Economics or related field. ABD candidates considered but must have Ph.D. conferred by hire date, August 15, 2019.

Associate Professor:

Ph.D. in Economics or related field with 3-5 years of experience

Job Posting Title:UTC Assistant Professor - Research Position Type:Faculty Department:LSUAM Engineering - CM - GC - TranSET (Marwa Mohamed Hassan (00008972) (Inherited)) Work Location:LSU - Baton Rouge Pay Grade:Academic The Assistant Professor Research is a non-tenured track position in Tran-SET university Transportation Center. The individual will conduct research in the area advanced materials for infrastructure sustainability. The research will focus on: Numerical modeling, Material characterization, and and sustainability quantification. The UTC Research Assistant Professor will also serve as PI/CO-PI for Tran-SET projects as well as other projects funded that can be used as cost share for the research center. In addition, he/she will participate in all aspects of planning, development, and management of the Tran-SET UTC program. Duties include: Prepare materials & proposals for submission to granting agencies and foundations to attract external funding helping to grow the center's funding sources. Build strategic partnerships with Local, regional and national funding agencies to expand Tran-SET's source of funds including LADOTD, FHWA, NCHRP, industry and foundations. Strategically plan project schedules availability and quantity of resources, and number of subordinate personnel assigned to participate in project. Monitor progress of the center's civil, construction and transportation research projects with emphasis on concrete, asphalt, pavements, sustainability, material characterization and structures. Coordinate information between Tran-SET's sections and partners. Develop research protocols and initiatives. Perform a wide and complex variety of assays, test, and studies. Perform highly specialized and advanced experiments. Collect, prepare, analyze, and evaluate experimental specimens and builds mechanistic and statistical models for projects. Serve as PI and/or Co-PIs on funded grants. As such: Prepare progress and final reports for funded grants. Conduct literature reviews, Collect and analyze data, Attend project meetings, Attend area seminars and other meetings as necessary, Summarize project results, Prepare publications, reports, and presentations to enhance the center's national recognition. Supervise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students working on the center's projects. Support Center's research dissemination activities through participation/development of short courses, seminars, webinars, etc. to students, community colleges, industry and department of transportation personnel. Prepare lectures to integrate center's research findings in existing LSU and other partner institution curriculum. Work with LSU's student associations to train students on advances in transportation research and give them new innovative ideas to plan for national competitions. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Ph.D in Construction management, Transportation engineering, or a closely related field. Experience in research, proposal writing, research program management is required. Superior oral and written communications and interpersonal skills are essential. Excellent computer and statistical skills are essential. Preferred Qualifications: High level of technical & computational skills. Expert in Material characterization using SEM,TEM, & x-ray diffraction. Finite Element analysis skills using ABAQUS or ANSYS and Sustainability quantification tools like life cycle assessment. Lab experience in AASHTO accredited concrete and/or Asphalt labs.
