POSITION SUMMARY: Twelve-month tenure-track or clinical faculty position for an assistant or associate professor to teach in the Master of Science in Athletic Training Program and the Doctor of Athletic Training Program in the School of Rehabilitation Sciences.

This faculty line will constitute the fourth full-time faculty member in the growing and vibrant Athletic Training programs. The School of Rehabilitation Sciences houses graduate programs in Athletic Training (MSAT & DAT), Occupational Therapy (MSOT & DOT), Speech Pathology (MS-SLP) and Physical Therapy (DPT). The MSAT program admitted its eighth class of students in Summer 2023 and is accredited by the CAATE through 2032.

Preferred start date is June 1, 2024. Start date is negotiable, but no later than August 12, 2024.

The individual filling this position may serve as Director of Clinical Education for the MSAT program (based on qualifications and interest in this role) and applicants are encouraged to indicate their interest in serving as Director of Clinical Education in their cover letter. The individual will primarily teach in the MSAT program (therapeutic modalities preferred) with the addition of teaching one to two courses per year in the DAT program (based on area(s) of expertise). Current areas of teaching Both graduate Athletic Training programs allow for professional mentoring, leadership opportunities, and collaborative teaching opportunities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaching in the MSAT program will likely include anatomy, therapeutic modalities, and upper extremity (elbow) and lower extremity (knee) assessment.
Collaborate in team-teaching within the program(s).
Participate in interprofessional education across the School of Rehabilitation Sciences.
Assist in all aspects of program design, development, implementation, assessment, and administration.

If applying for the Director of Clinical Education role, additional functions and responsibilities include:

Identify, recruit, and secure clinical education sites in conjunction with School staff.
Develop and implement orientation and ongoing educational programs for clinical instructors.
Perform clinical education site visits (in-person, virtually, or by phone), with the assistance of the Program Director and other program faculty.
Develop and implement a plan for student placements and student progression at clinical education sites, including meeting all accreditation requirements.
Develop and maintain, with assistance from School staff, databases related to health requirements, immunizations, drug screens, and criminal background checks for students completing clinical education to ensure compliance with program and accreditation policies and procedures.
Orient students to pre-clinical education requirements and program expectations during clinical education.
Monitor student progression within the clinical education component of the program
Facilitate the collection of necessary data for the evaluation of student and clinical instructor performance during clinical education.
Perform annual assessment of clinical instructors and clinical sites and provide appropriate feedback to individuals regarding performance in clinical education.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Earned academic doctorate (e.g. PhD, EdD, DSc) or doctorate degree in Athletic Training (DAT) or a related field (e.g. DPT).
Eligibility for PA licensure as an Athletic Trainer.
A minimum of five years, full-time clinical experience.
Preference will be given to those individuals with teaching experience, clinical instruction experience, and experience with the CAATE Accreditation process.
