Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Prescott, College of Aviation, invites applications for tenure/non-tenure track Assistant/Associate Professors in support of our B.S. degrees in Aeronautical Science, Unmanned Aircraft Systems and Air Traffic Management. Aeronautical Science teaching assignments may include, but not be limited to, jet transport systems, turbine engine operations, electronic flight management systems, flight technique analysis, airline operations, domestic & international navigation.
Unmanned Aerial Systems teaching assignments may include core technologies of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UASs); governmental and private sector applications of UAS to meet mission needs; operations within the architecture of the current national airspace and federal aviation regulations; planning and effective conduct of complex missions involving the proper use of aerial sensing systems. Additionally, knowledge of private, instrument, and commercial pilot operations is required. The selected candidate must have a Master's Degree, earned doctorate preferred, with applicability to the aviation related fields of study, experience in higher education, industry, or governmental educational setting; Commercial Pilots License, Certified Flight Instructor Certificate or Fundamentals of Instructing Test competed; business development skills with UAS, curriculum development in UAS, and LIDAR experience preferred.
Air Traffic Management teaching assignments include terminal and enroute radar procedures and control tower operations, both in a lecture and computer simulated environments. The ability to fully operate and teach from the STARS and ERAM air traffic control programs is essential.
Knowledge of up-and-coming unmanned aerial systems integration and capabilities are preferred. Applicants must also have the ability to maintain computer equipment, hardware and programs utilized for air traffic and pilot simulation software such as Metacraft SimSuite, Prepar3D, Navigraph, flight strip printers, SimCab, mechanical keyboard programming, SimVox, Elo touchscreens, SimPilot, VNC and SimScope. Knowledge of how to edit, design and configure these programs through .xml files is required.
Applicants must also hold expertise in designing realistic scenarios based on aircraft type, performance and environmental conditions. Additionally, the ability to convey to students the importance of time management, prioritization, stress management and situational awareness is required. Should understand the processes and programs used to link multiple simulation laboratories together to perform remote simulation sessions, producing real-time learning opportunities in a collaborative setting with both visual and audio capabilities.
Must hold an undergraduate and Master's degree in technical aviation-related fields. Previous management and teaching experience is preferred.
Normal teaching load corresponds to four 3-credit hour courses per semester.
This position will also include working with and advising students as they explore different options with internships, research, and coursework as well as career paths. Scholarly activities and service responsibilities are expected.
This is a nine-month position, renewed annually, with the possibility of summer teaching for additional pay.
The Prescott campus is a small residential campus in the mountains of northern Arizona. Prescott is one of the highest-rated residential areas in the Southwest. It is located at over 5,000 feet elevation, has a mild climate, clean air, and is close to outdoor recreation, pristine wilderness areas and national forests.
Candidate must have a Master's Degree, preferably in an aviation-related field. A Ph.D./doctoral degree is highly desirable.
The candidate must have experience in Part 121/135 airline or corporate flight operations or appropriate military experience.
The candidate will also have demonstrated ability to teach, preferably in collegiate or Part 121/141 training programs, and have demonstrated potential for scholarly activity.
